Subject Officers at the West African Examinations Council

The West African Examinations Council, a sub-regional organization responsible for the conduct of a variety of examinations in the English-speaking Wrest African countries, invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the position below in its Nigeria National Office and Lagos Department of its Headquarters Research Division.

 

Position: Subject Officers

 

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should possess a minimum of Bachelors Degree (at least second Lower Class Division) from a recognized University in any of the under listed subject areas.

 

1.         Subject : Music

Qualifications

B.A/B.A (Ed) Music, M.A Music, knowledge in the use of Finale/Sibelius Software will be an added advantage.

 

2.         Subject: History

Qualification:

B.A/B.A (Ed) History, M.A History.

 

3.         Subject: Clothing and Textiles

Qualification:

B.sc Home Economics, M.A Home Economics

 

4.         Subject: French

Qualification:

B.A (Hons) French, B.A (Ed) French; M.A. French

 

5.         Subject: Igbo

Qualification:

B.A (Hons) Igbo, B.Ed (Igbo), B.A. Ed (Igbo/Linguistics) M.A (Igbo)

 

6.         Subject: Agricultural Science

Qualification:

B.sc (B.Ed) Agriculture (Any Area of Specialization in Agriculture)

 

7.         Subject: Biology

Qualification:

B.sc Biology/Zoology, Botany: B.Ed Biology, B.sc Microbiology/Biological Sciences

 

8.         Subject: Chemistry

Qualification

B.sc Chemistry/Industrial Chemistry/Applied Chemistry, B.Tech Chemical Engineering, B.Ed (Cheminstry)

 

9.         Subject: Technical Drawing

Qualification

B.sc Mechanical Engineering, B.sc Civil Engineering; B.Ed Industrial Education

 

Note:

  • Possess of higher degree in Educational Measurement and Evaluation would be an added advantage
  • A minimum of three years post qualification teaching experience  is required for subject  Officers.

 

Applicants for this position must:

  • Be able to use personal computers, office software packages and have knowledge of web-based systems
  • Be self motivated and able to write good reports; analyse and review research reports; be able to work extra hours with little or no supervision
  • Be a team player with good Inter personal skills; be open and able to lead change Possess influencing skills
  • Be an organizer/planner with ability to be flexible and a finisher with ability to successfully implement ideas
  • Possess analytical and communication skills

 

NB: Applicants for this position must (in addition to their degrees and professional qualifications) possess five credits including English Language and Mathematics at a sitting in WASSCE/SSCE/GCE “O” Level or six credits including English Language and Mathematics at not more than two sittings in WASSC’E/SSCE/GCE “O” Level.

Applicants should not be more than 30 years of age as at the close of applications except those for the positions of Senior Purchasing/ Procurement Officer, Senior Legal Officer  and Senior Public Affairs Officer who should not be more than 35 years.
