Position: Director (The Scholarship Registry)
The Scholarship Registry (TSR) is a social enterprise scheme focused on building capacity for development in Nigeria by increasing financial access to higher education for qualified Nigerians through scholarship administration on behalf of individuals and organizations, Our goal is to provide and improve access to funding for these students by providing a unique and efficient platform for sponsors to offer scholarship funds to deserving students. Our commitment to world-class scholarship administration allows us to bring efficiency to the administration of scholarships while amplifying sponsors’ funds by seeking matching grants from educational institutions.
TSR focuses on Nigerian citizens who desire to study in leading institutions at all levels, both local and international, based on a contract through which the beneficiaries of the scholarship commit themselves to the criteria / requirements of individual and corporate sponsors.
Specific Role and Responsibilities
- TSR seeks a professional who will be responsible for the management, administration, and strategic direction of all scholarship programs managed by the organization.
- Reporting to the Chairman and Board of Trustees, the Director will provide leadership for TSR’s policy and practices by developing and directing strategies that are consistent with TSR’s management objectives regarding recruitment and retention.
- Using data, both quantitative and qualitative, the Director will strategically support development, growth and success of scholarship programs administered on behalf of clients
- Provide hands-on leadership for packaging, delivery, and implementation of scholarship programs; coordinate and oversee audits, compliance reviews and account reconciliations; and ensure institutional compliance with relevant regulations and statutes.
- Identify and assist in fundraising for the organization
- Manage the administrative, legal and human resources of the organization, including hiring staff and overseeing the expansion of the organization’s technology platform
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree (an advanced degree is preferred though experience and drive are most critical);
- A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience in the corporate sector, non-profit sector or university administration (NYSC excluded);
- Experience building, managing and motivating teams;
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, program development, and resource allocation;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to manage relationships with scholarship sponsors and partners Commitment to and enthusiasm for The Scholarship Registry’s mission and business model;
- Must show in-depth experience with complex financial analysis, monitoring, reporting and control as well as the ability to manage, train and develop staff.
- The ideal candidate will be a compelling communicator who is familiar with budget management current data collection, research methodologies, web-based technology and be able to produce results in a fast-paced environment.
- The successful candidate will have demonstrated knowledge or experience of both US and UK
Location and Start Date
This is a full-time, minimum 2-year commitment, based in Lagos, Nigeria. Ideal start date is Q3 2011.
