Vacancies: 3rd Engineers, 2nd Officers, Trainee Electrical Officers

NLNG Ship Manning Limited (NSML), subsidiary of Nigeria LNG Limited, seeks to engage personnel for immediate employment.

 

Position: 3rd Engineers (Ref: NSML/2011/001)

Location: Onboard NLNG Chartered Ships

The Job:

The appointee will be required to ensure safe operation of the electric power generation system and maintain the engine room fire and safety equipment.

 

The duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of the ship’s power generation and systems
  • Maintain the engine room fire and safety equipment
  • Ensure the safety of persons working directly under his supervision
  • Maintain records associated with maintenance of fire and safety equipment
  • Keep a safe and efficient engine room watch
  • Maintain record associated with Shipboard maintenance scheme.
  • Act as shipboard Safety Officer when required

 

The Person:

The right candidate should possess:

  • A Minimum of OOW (Engine) Certificate of Competency (CoC)
  • Five (5) years seagoing experience
  • Knowledge of Shipping Operations in the Shipping and marine industry
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Possession of a Higher National Diploma (HND) and/or experience on steam ships/LNG/LPG carrier will be an added advantage.

 

Position: 2nd Officers – Ref: NSML/2011/002

Location: Onboard NLNG Chartered Ships

 

The Job:

  • The appointee will be required to keep a safe navigation and cargo watch and maintain the navigation equipment and publications deck fire and safety equipments.
  • The duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Ensure safety of all personnel, especially at arriving and leaving port
  • Responsible for the Medical locker and ensure the administration of first aid and medical treatment to Shipboard personnel
  • Ensure that the breathing apparatus and oxygen resuscitation equipment are in working  condition and all associated records are properly maintained.
  • Maintain the Bridge information book and associated records.
  • Act as nominated officer for the GMDSS station,
  • when required, with responsibility for associated tests and records tests and records
  • Maintain navigational watch when vessel is at sea and cargo watch at loading/discharge ports
  • Plan and prepare vessel voyage charts tracing the routes and update the charts
  • Liaise with Chief Officer to order navigational chart and other admiralty materials for the safe navigation of the ship.
  • Act as shipboard Safety Officer when required

 

The Person:

The right person should possess:

  • A OOW (Deck) Certificate of Competency (CoC)
  • Five (5) years seagoing experience
  • Knowledge of Shipping Operations in the Shipping and marine industry
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Possession of a Higher National Diploma (HND), experience on LNG/LPG carrier and/or  Tanker/Familiarization/Dangerous Cargo
  • Endorsement will be added advantage.

 

Position: Trainee Electrical Officers – Ref: NSML/2011/004

Location: Onboard NLNG Chartered Ships

 

The Job:

The appointee will be required to maintain electrical installations on board vessels and safely repair all electrical equipment as directed by the Chief Engineer

 

The duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Repair electrical equipment
  • Maintain integrity of electrical installations
  • Monitor electrical insulations  on board the vessel
  • Undertake fault-finding and  repair electrical and electronic systems on board vessels
  • Carryout any other electrical duties as required by the Chief Engineer.

 

The Person

The right person should:

  • Possess a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical/Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering or Physics obtained at a minimum of Upper Credit.
  • Be a good team player with ability to work in a multicultural environment
  • Be professional and able to carry out tasks with little supervision
  • Not be more than 25 years old.
  • No experience is required for this position but knowledge of marine electrical installations onboard a vessel will be an added advantage.
  • Undertake fault-finding and repair electrical and electronic systems on board vessels
  • Carryout any other electrical duties as required by the Chief Engineer.
