Job Description


  • The role of the DBA will involve providing database expertise and support to core production and support systems. You will be expected to Design, Implement and provide administrative and routine maintenance to SQL and Oracle databases to ensure their constant availability. You will be expected to monitor the performance and plan accordingly along with ensuring the security and creating backups of the database. Further responsibilities will include the generation of management reporting using T-SQL, MS Access and Crystal Reports whilst ensuring any changes is well documented and an audit trail can be followed.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:


  • The ideal individual will be an experienced DBA and have an in-depth knowledge and experience in MS-SQL  2005 / 2008 and Oracle 10g/11g. Further knowledge of MS Server 2003 / 2008 is also required along with experience of MS Analysis Services & MS Reporting Services. Additional experience of T-SQL, MS Access & Crystal Reports would also be of benefit. You will be expected to prioritize and organize your own work-load and have good problem solving skills. As you will be working in a team environment, the candidate must possess excellent communication skills.

Education

  • Applicant must possess HND or BSc in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related fields.

Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years experience in a database-enabled IT environment. Must be an Oracle or Microsoft Certified Database Administrator.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare financial statements including monthly and annual accounts
  • Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
  • Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met
  • Prepare financial management reports
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
  • Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures
  • Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities
  • Continuous management and support of budget and forecast activities
  • Monitor and support taxation issues
  • Develop and maintain financial data bases
  • Financial audit preparation and coordinate the audit process
  • Ensure accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses
  • Analyze and advise on business operations including revenue and expenditure trends, financial commitments and future revenues
  • Analyze financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations and maintain solutions to business and financial problems

Education

  • Applicant must possess HND/Bsc in Accountancy or Banking and Finance. Professional Certification will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in a similar capacity.
