Vacancies: Manager-Government Relations, Accountant

Position: Manager, Government Relations – Ref: M018
This role projects and strengthens the Group’s relationships with various levels of government in the interest of long term corporate image and reputation of the company.
Key Accountabilities
- Develops plans and strategies for managing the Group’s relationship with various levels of government with a view to project and ensuring positive corporate image and reputation
- Monitors national policy and political issues and their impact on the company and devise .strategies to handle such Issues,
- Manages Group’s reputation and visibility in government circles within the country.
- Develops and reviews government affairs department policies and procedures.
- Monitors social and economic policies and pronouncement with a view to anticipating the Impact on group operations and developing appropriate response strategies.
- Maintains formal and informal relations with the Federal, State, Local Government and various levels of government.
- Develops relationships with ambassadors and senior officials of foreign eembassies in Nigeria and Nigerian embassies abroad.
- Analyses political landscape and develops scenarios to assist the Group management in making decision
- Facilitates government approvals, exemptions and licenses for group operations
- Assists in managing the Group’s corporate emergency response plan
- Plan and manage activities of the Government Affairs department.
- Monitors and reports on perceived reputation of Group in government circles across the country
- Initiates and implements strategies and programmes that ensure hitch free relationship with relevant government agencies across the country
- Ensures timely approvals of relevant Government exemptions and approvals.
Skills and Competencies
- The ideal person for this role must demonstrate excellent relationship management, listening and persuasive skills and ability to engage and influence outcomes with very strong planning and organizing ability. The person must be self-motivated and create change in a positive way that projects the Group’s interests.
Education and Experience:
- Applicant must have first degree in the Social Sciences, Arts or Humanities
- 12-15 years post graduation experience out of which 5 years should have been spend in a senior position performing similar role preferably in Oil and Gas Company.
Position: Accountant – Ref: P019
- The focus of this role is to promote sound financial management and accounting practices and ensure accurate analysis, documentation and reporting of financial transactions to enable effective decision-making and management of the divisional operations.
Key Accountabilities:
- Maintains the general ledger and the transaction management processes of the company
- Analyses business and financial performance
- Prepares periodic internal management reports and variance analysis
- Prepares the annual statutory financial reports
- Collates and analyses inputs into the preparation of annual budgets
- Monitors and reports on budget performance
- Review and reconciles operational expenditure against budget
- Reviews and determines the costs of the business processes and services
- Undertakes profitability analysis to gauge cost effectiveness of business operations
- Reconcilers revenue accounts
- Analyses and determines the product cost structures and margin contribution to profit
- Liaises with internal & external auditors
- Assists in the preparation of comprehensive, proactive and timely cash flow statements and bank reconciliation statements and bank reconciliation statements.
- Prepares and maintains the fixed asset register.
Skills and Competencies
- Good at analyzing and resolving complex financial problems, the person must be competent in the use of computers to enhance work performance, self-motivated, diligent, and enthusiastic with a strong business orientation. The person must be very good at capturing and reporting data able to pay attention to details.
Education and Experience
- Applicant must have First degree with a professional certificate ACA, ACCA
- Minimum of 6 years relevant experience
- A postgraduate degree will be an added advantage.
