Vacancies: Librarian, Director of Works, Physical Planning and Maintenance
The Sokoto State University Implement Committee, on behalf of the Sokoto State Government hereby invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the positions below at Sokoto State University, Sokoto:
Position: Librarian
Duties:
The University Librarian shall be the Chief Library Officer of the University. He shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor with functions over the day-to-day management of the University Library.
Qualifications and Experience:
The candidate must:
- Possess who has a first degree in Library Science (with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division). Possession of higher degree in Library Sciences will be an advantage
- A person who has experience in the organization and running of a Library for not less than 5 years, and has served as the Deputy Librarian
- A Nigerian and
- Have full membership of relevant professional body.
Position: Director of Works, Physical Planning and Maintenance
Duties:
The director shall be the Chief Physical Development Officer of the University, with responsibility for maintenance of existing buildings, and construction of new physical structures and facilities in the University.
Qualifications and Experience:
The candidate must:
- Be a person with a minimum of first Degree in Civil Engineering, Building or Architecture (with at least Second Class Lower Division),
- Have cognate experience of not less than 10 years,
- Be a Nigerian,
- Be registered with relevant professional bodies and
- Enjoy excellent physical and mental health.
Salary and Condition of Service:
The salaries and conditions of service are as applicable to the post appointed for in Nigerian State Universities as approved by Sokoto State Government and the Governing Council of the University from time to time.
Tenure:
The Vice-Chancellor shall hold-office for a one-term period of five (5) years. While other officers shall hold office for a renewable two-term periods of five (5) years each subject to the approval of the Governing Council.

xxi. A Statement of the candidate’s vision for the Sokoto State University in the next five (5) years of not more than 1500 words
