Our Client, a regulator in the finance services sector of Nigeria, the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), is seeking to recruit candidates into some strategic vacancies in some functional areas as listed below: These roles are generally expected to have functional strategy initiation and implementation responsibilities, as well as coaching and mentoring of respective functional teams. Additional details in terms of roles, academic, technical and behavioural.

 

 

Position: Director, Off Site (Supervision)

Academic

  • Applicant must possess a University degree or equivalent qualification in any of the following disciplines: Economics, Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science and Insurance
  • A post-graduate degree will be an added advantage
  • S/he must possess relevant professional qualification e.g. ACA, CITN, CNA, CIIN, ACCA
  • In addition, candidate must have a minimum of twenty (20) years cognate experience with at least 5 years in senior management position in the financial services sector
  • Experience as a thought-leader as demonstrated through distinguished services in relevant associations, committees, etc.
  • Relevant industry experience is a must, along with knowledge of outstanding global and local practices

 

Role Requirements  (Technical)

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for directing the supervision through the team with respect to any regulatory tools used in dealing with issues of non-compliance, and conducting meetings held with company officials to obtain information to facilitate this.
  • Candidates should have exceptional analytical and communication skills (both written and oral) and highly developed team leadership and mentoring skills
  • The post holder will be accountable for contributing to the development and implementation of new or revised policy and/or legislative initiatives.
  • This role involves establishing strong relationships with the most senior levels of management within the organisation, the sector’s operators and other regulators as well as working directly with the Chief Executive Officer.

 

Behavioural

  • This candidate must be focused on raising the quality and standards of all tasks undertaken
  • S/he must be able to draw conclusions by probing problems, issues and contemplate the consequences
  • The ideal candidate must have an innate need to get things right
  • S/ he must be thorough, disciplined and must be detail oriented

 

 

Position: Director, Authorization and Policy

Academic

  • University degree or equivalent qualification in any of the following disciplines: Finance, Policy and Strategy, Accounting, Actuarial Science and Insurance
  • A post-graduate degree will advantage
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for developing criteria for authorization of member organizations
  • S/he will oversee the development of appropriate policies that will serve as the bedrock for the organization

 

Academic

  • Applicants must possess a University degree or equivalent qualification in any of the following disciplines: Finance, Policy and Strategy, Accounting, Actuarial Science and Insurance
  • A post-graduate degree will be an added advantage
  • Relevant professional qualification is essential
  • Minimum of 20 years relevant post graduate experience of which at least five years should be at a senior level in the financial services sector
  • Experience as a thought-leader as demonstrated through associations, committees, etc.
  • Relevant industry experience is a must, along with knowledge of international policies and standards.

 

Role Requirements (Technical)

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for developing criteria for authorization of member organisations
  • S/he will oversee the development of appropriate policies that will serve as the bedrock for the organisation
  • S/he will oversee the development of procedures to support the developed policies and ensure enforcement of such policies
  • S/he will provide coaching, mentoring and leadership for the subordinates
  • S/he must possess exceptional analytical and communication skills (both written and oral) and highly developed team leadership and mentoring skills.

 

Behavioural

  • The ideal candidate must be able to maintain quality and pay significant attention to detail
  • S/he must be alert to changing situations and must be adaptable in difficult circumstances.
