Vacancies: Director-Inspectorate, Assistant Director-Legal
Our Client, a regulator in the finance services sector of Nigeria, the National Insurance commission (NAICOM), is seeking to recruit candidates into some strategic vacancies in some functional areas as listed below: These roles are generally expected to have functional strategy initiation and implementation responsibilities, as well as coaching and mentoring of respective functional teams. Additional details in terms of roles, academic, technical and behavioural.
Position: Director, Inspectorate
Academic
- University degree or equivalent qualification in finance or the social sciences
- A post-graduate degree will be an added advantage
- Candidates must also possess relevant professional qualification with recognised local and/or international professional bodies
- Minimum of 20 years relevant post graduate experience of which at least five years should be at a senior level in the financial services business, and/or working experience with a financial organisation.
- Exceptional analytical and communication skills (both written and oral) and highly developed team leadership and mentoring skills.
- Experience as a thought-leader as demonstrated through association, committees, etc.
- Relevant industry experience is a must, along with knowledge of outstanding global and local practices.
Role Requirements (Technical)
- The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the inspection of operators with respect to compliance requirements.
- The post holder will be accountable for contributing to the development and implementation of inspection guidelines in line with international standards
- This role involves establishing strong relationships with the most senior levels of management within the organisation, the sector’s operators and other regulators as well as working, directly with Chief Executive officer.
Behavioural
- The ideal candidates must be systematic and factual, and adopt logical and intelligent approach in dealing with issues
- S/he must be diplomatic while maintaining a high standard of compliance
- S/he must be able to establish, adhere to and enforce regulations and procedures
Position: Assistant Director, Legal
Academic
- Candidate must possess LLB and BL
- An LLM will be an added advantage
- Candidate must have fifteen (15) years working experience, five of which should be in senior management position in a reputable organization
Role and Requirement
- The successful candidate must have expertise in legislation and judicial systems
- S/he will manage inquiries & disciplinary procedures
- S/he will manage & coordinate external Legal Service provision
- Candidates should also have relevant experience working with the board of an organisation (e.g. as a Company Secretary)
- The successful candidate will also manage relationships with Stakeholders
Behavioural
- The ideal candidate must subscribe to strict standards of quality and accuracy
- S/ he must be able to demonstrate a proven track record of dealing with colleagues with diplomacy while ensuring rules and regulations are strictly adhered to
- The ideal person should possess functional interpersonal networks across a range of industries
