Chief of Party at USAID Health Care Improvement (HCI) project, Nigeria

Position: Chief of Party, USAID Health Care Improvement (HCI) project, Nigeria

Location: Abuja, Nigeria

 

Position Summary

URC is currently soliciting applications for a  Chief or Party for an Orphans and Vulnerable Children  (OVC) program in Nigerian. The program is designed to improve the well-being of vulnerable  children and caregivers  through a sustainable comprehensive and coordinated response.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the technical leadership and managerial oversight in the design and implementation of project strategy
  • Assume responsibility for the achievement and documentation of project results and ensure timely completion of all project deliverables for USAID and other stakeholders
  • Provide financial management and accountability of all project tasks in compliance with USAID regulations and URC policies
  • Ensure technical support for quality improvement (Q1) activities is provided to the government of Nigeria and partners
  • Serve as liaison to USAID, FMWASD, partners and other stakeholders
  • Manage and supervise staff
  • Coordinate all external technical assistance
  • Develop work plans and processes for results reporting
  • Synthesize document and disseminate the process of quality care
  • Represent the project at meetings with funders, ministry officials, roundtables, working groups, conferences
  • Performance of other duties as required

 

 

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Previous experience managing USAID funded projects at chief of party level or equivalent
  • Previous experience in OVC and social services
  • At least five years of experience in a management position, capable of supporting complex, multi-year
  • Technical expertise in health or social services in the form of a professional degree and or graduate level degree.
  • Proven ability to work with partners at all levels, including federal, state and local government officials, donors and other non-governmental organizations
  • Knowledge of Nigeria’s social and health service systems
  • Demonstrated ability to systematically package and document processes, achievements and lessons learned
  • Strong time management and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to work well independently and in team settings.
  • Experience in Quality Improvement approaches is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Nigeria and the immediate region required
  • Ability to travel throughout Nigeria
  • Outstanding verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
  • Fluency in English required, both written and oral – local languages a plus
