The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is Nigeria’s foremost financial system regulatory institution, with statutory responsibility for the overall control and administration of the monetary and financial sector policies of the Federal Government of Nigeria. The Financial System Stability Directorate is seeking appropriately qualified Nigerians to join its team of professionals in the following roles:

 

Position: Accounting  Specialist on IFRS

Responsibilities

  • The candidate will ensure the CBN keeps abreast with the International Financial Reporting Standard and is able to adequately monitor implementation cross the banking industry; review accounting for technical and complex accounting transactions, including derivatives, purchase accounting, equity, stock-based compensation, impairment analyses, and others to ensure compliance with 1FRS requirement and development of accounting policies; provide advice on interpretation and implementation of IFRS including compliance by financial institutions and ensure timely regulatory direction and advisory to the banking all IFRS developments; changes in legislation.

 

Qualification and Experience

  • The candidate will Have a Deep knowledge of IFRS accounting legislation, Strong financial reporting, and have Strong analytical and problem solving and writing skills

 

At the minimum:

  • First degree /HND in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Economics or related
  • disciplines
  • A post graduate degree is an added advantage
  • Minimum of 6 years relevant experience in finance and accounting. At least j years must have been spent in a management position for senior management role.
  • Membership  of the  following  professional  bodies , is an added advantage: Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Institute of Chartered
  • Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigerian (CITN), Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN)
  • Possession of the following certifications is an  added  advantage:  Certified Chartered Accountant (CCA), Certified Public Account (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA).

 

Position: Basel II/Ill Specialist

Responsibilities

  • The candidate will ensure the CBN keeps abreast with Basel II and III requirements and is able to adequately monitor implementation cross the banking industry- define local strategy for implementation of and compliance with Basel IIand Basel III; review regulatory guidance and ensure that industry risk frameworks comply with benchmark regulations; and provide advice on interpretation and implementation of Basel II and Basel Ill including compliance by financial institutions.

 

Qualification and Experience

  • The candidate will have deep knowledge of Basel requirements, strong financial reporting skills, deep knowledge of accounting principles, deep knowledge of financial instrument analysis

 

At the minimum:

  • First degree/HND in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Economics or related disciplines
  • Relevant experience in an audit practice is mandatory
  • Minimum of 6 years relevant experience in finance and accounting. At least 3 years must have been spent in a management position for senior management role.
  • Membership of the following professional bodies is an added advantage: Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Chartered institute of Taxation of Nigerian (CITN), Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN)
  • Possession of the following certifications is an added advantage: Certified Chartered Accountant (CCA), Certified Public Account (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA).

 

Age: Age limit for all positions is 50 years.
