A State Government in Nigeria recently partnered with the Mantis Collection Group to manage a Cold and Warm Springs Resort. This is a landmark that leverages the unique position the State in the tourism and hospitality industry and enables a diversified economic base. The Resort project is envisioned to deliver a 3 and 5-star hotel environment complete with conferencing facilities, a heliport, golf course and business resort, and is located around a famous Warm Spring in the South-Western part of Nigeria.

 

As part of its start-up initiatives the State Government intends to recruit competent and suitably qualified professionals to fill various positions in the Warm Springs Resort.

 

Position: Operations Manager (Nigerian or Expatriate) – WSR0001

 

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will have overall responsibility for:

  • Providing operational leadership, vision and direction to the Resort to maximise results and optimise its competitive strengths in the Nigerian Tourism sector.
  • He/She will coordinate and oversee the entire operations, including all its business concerns, such as hospitality and leisure services, amongst others.

Specifically, the candidate will:

  • Co-ordinate the day-to-day operational activities of the Resort and formulate policies that are geared towards promoting hospitality and tourism in the Resort.
  • Identify, develop and direct the implementation of the Resort’s operational strategy and define the critical success factors in conjunction with the General Manager
  • Drive the development of annual operating plans including business plans, operational requirements, staffing and budgets within the framework set by the Resort’s corporate mission, strategic plan and policies in conjunction with the General Manager.
  • Coordinate and ensure seamless and optimal integration of operational departments in line with its resources (human, financial and information) to achieve the Resort’s overall objectives.

 

Qualifications, skills and experience

  • A good first degree in any Social or Management Sciences discipline from a reputable institution.
  • Higher degree(s) or an MBA will be an advantage.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ post-qualification experience, five (5) of which must have been spent in senior management position in an international or multinational organization within the tourism or hospitality industry.
  • Previous experience in managing resort centres will be an advantage.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of groups and individuals.
  • Good leadership and people management skills to motivate and coordinate teams.
  • Excellent understanding of the local and global hospitality industry.
  • Good understanding of key regulatory issues and knowledge of health, Safety and Environment management.
  • Proven track record in achieving results in an environment that is challenging and sometimes unpredictable.
  • Good negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills.

 

Position: Finance & Admin Manager- WSR0002

 

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will have oversight functions in all aspects of Finance, Human Resources and General Administration. Specifically, the candidate will:

  • Co-ordinate and supervise all administrative duties
  • Oversee the financial reporting & book-keeping procedures
  • Manage the budget and monitor implementation in conjunction with the General Manager
  • Work closely with departmental staff to deliver on periodic performance reporting
  • Supervise the HR unit and manage all personnel administration
  • Establish and ensure strong internal controls

 

Qualifications, skills and experience

  • A good first degree or its equivalent in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or a related discipline from a reputable institution.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ relevant experience, five (5) of which must have been spent in senior management position in a hotel or resort.
  • Must be chartered, possessing either ICAN or ACCA qualification.
  • Membership of any professional HR body will be an advantage.
  • Experience in writing, editing and producing job descriptions or manuals.
  • Good knowledge of financial planning and familiarity with accounting packages.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities against timelines.
  • Proven track record in financial management, employee mentoring and performance management.
  • Experience in motivating and managing organisational staff.
  • Good business and commercial acumen.
  • Demonstrated communication, presentation, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
