The Population Council is an international, non-profit, non-governmental institution that seeks that seeks to improve the well-being and reproductive health of current and future generations around the world and help achieve a humane, equitable and sustainable balance between people and resources. The Council’s major program areas are HIV&AIDS, reproductive health and poverty, gender, and youth. The Council conducts biomedical, social science and public health research and helps build research capacities in developing countries. The Population Council works in collaboration with a broad range of Nigerian institutions. Due to expansion of its activities, the Council is seeking qualified individuals to fill the following positions;

 

Position: Laboratory Officer – Kaduna & Lagos

 

  • The successful candidate will operate and maintain a standard medical laboratory at a newly established community-based outpatient clinic for men and sex partners who engage in high behaviors that predispose them to increased risks of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections and perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications: The ideal candidate must have:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s of Medical Laboratory Science degree
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant working experience in public or private, non-profit management, or related field.
  • Licensed by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of MS Excel Word, and PowerPoint required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the country and across the region on a regular basis
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, ability to write clearly and succinctly undertime pressure and to make well organized verbal presentations.

 

Position: Mobilization Officer – Kaduna & Lagos

 

  • The successful candidate will provide assistance in the full implementation and the day to day running of a community based clinics target at male most-at-risk sub-population at the state level, S/he will provide technical support to the project partners in mobilizing members of the community for HIV prevention services.

 

Qualifications: The ideal candidate must have:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant working experience in public policy, non-profit management, or related field.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required,
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the country and across the region on a regular basis
  • High degree of independence, creativity and commitment
  • Strong analytic and communication skills, ability to write clearly and succinctly under time pressure and to make well organized verbal presentations.

 

 

Position: Clinical Assistant – Kaduna & Lagos

 

  • The successful candidate will provide administrative and clerical support to the community-based clinic in an effective and efficient manner that will ensure that the clinic operations are maintained to high standards. This position will also provide full support administrative to the Medical Officer

 

Qualifications: The ideal candidate must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English language/Secretarial studies, Administration or closely related field with at least 2 to 4 years of relevant experience (with 1+ year of administration) or a satisfactory combination of education and relevant experience. NGO experience desirable.
  • Proficiency with office systems including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); Knowledge of graphics is useful Proficiency in written and oral English,
  • Excellent communications skills (e.g interpersonal writing, presentation, negotiation) Organized and results-orientated.
  • Ability to work in complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform. Ability to work both independently and effectively with all levels of employees with minimal supervision, in addition to also functioning well as part of a team.

 

  • Problem solving and decision-making skills. Demonstrated ability to work in a mufti-cultural environment.
  • Bright, confident, personable personality
  • Flexible and mature approach with ability to work independently.
