Position: University Librarian
Duties
The University Librarian is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the administration of the University Library and the co-ordination of library services in the University and its Campuses, Colleges, Faculties, Schools, Departments, Institutes and other teaching and research units. By virtue of his position, the University Librarian also advises the Vice-chancellor on budget allocation for books Journals etc.
Qualifications/Experience:
The candidate must possess the following:
- A Doctorate degree in any discipline from a recognized University plus a postgraduate qualification in Librarianship from a recognized Institution.
- The candidates should also have a minimum of fifteen (15) years cognate experience in an academic library with five (5) out of the fifteen (15) years not being below the rank of the Deputy University Librarian.
- The candidate must show evidence of considerable scholarship and a thorough understanding of new techniques in Library operation services and must be computer literate.
Basic Salary: CONUASS07
Other Conditions of Service
The appointment in each case shall be for a period of five (5nos.) years and may be renewed for a further period of one year and no more. Other fringe benefits and allowances are as currently applicable to the positions in other Federal Universities as prescribed by the Federal Government of Nigeria and as determined from time to time by the Governing Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
