Our client, a leading national conglomerate operating in various sectors of the economy, has recently embarked on several expansion projects across its focus sectors including investments in new fron­tiers. In fine with its growth and transformation agenda, the client is also investing in reposition­ing and restructuring its operations, with the goal of creating an enduring business with appropriate structures and synergies. As part of this effort, the Company now seeks to recruit self-driven, experi­enced and motivated individuate to fill select posi­tion within its flour business

 

The flour business operates plants in multiple locations across the country and expects to more than double its existing capacity from on going expan­sion of existing plants and greenfield projects. As a result, the client seeks to fill the following key position:

 

Position: Head, Logistics (HL – FL003)

 

  • Reporting to the Executive Director, Operations, the Successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating the smooth running of the logistics function by ensuring cost-efficient and effective movement and storage of input materials in order to ensure consistent availability of raw materials at all the Company’s plants in Nigeria

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion the development and articulation of logistics functions strategy, policies and processes and ensure ensuring alignment with the corporate strategy, goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the planning for and coordination  of the transportation of input materials in order to ensure  timely delivery.
  •  Develop and implement strategies and tactics for improving operational efficiencies for the transportation of input materials, while improving services levels and reducing cost.
  • Ensure effective relationship management with third party service providers within the supply chain (such as transporters, etc), and monitor compliance with agreed service levels.

 

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in relevant discipline from a reputable higher institution
  • Professional qualification in Transport Logistics Operations/Management, Supply chain management,  and/ or other related field is an advantage.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years’ work experience in a senior management position. Cognate experience within the Nigerian food manufacturing  environ­ment is desirable.
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of  trends, challenges, opportunities, regulations and legislations relating to flour sector
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the in-put materials (e.g. Wheat) required in the produc­tion of flour.
  • Strong understanding of the logistics and inputs in Nigeria button network for manufactured products and inputs in Nigeria.
  • Working knowledge of transportation logistics HSE policies.
  • Strong leadership, negotiating and influencing skills
  • Good networking skills, particularly relationship building, interpersonal and communication skills
  • High ethical standards and integrity.
