Announces Vacancy for the Following Position

 

Position: Maintenance Engineer

 

Main Duties / Responsibilities:

  • To ensure optimum performance of facilities in the Headquarters building and Management residences all year round.

 

Detailed Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ensure maintenance agreements are executed and renewed periodically for all equipments and machinery in the HQ building and Management residences
  • Monitor and ensure prompt routine and planned maintenance of all equipments and facilities are carried as per the schedule of maintenance
  • Ensure optimal and satisfactory performance of key facilities in the Corporation buildings e.g. lifts, generators, borehole/treatment plants, etc
  • Ensure timely execution of reported unplanned maintenance faults within reasonable period
  • Supervise and ensure all maintenance works in the HQ building and Management residences are executed to the best engineering standard and to the satisfaction of the end users
  • Keep and update quarterly a schedule of prices of goods and services for use in vetting contractors/ suppliers bills for maintenance works.
  • Participate in the yearly inventory of the Corporation assets, supervise the tagging of new assets and ensure assets movement / disposal forms are duly executed and the records kept
  • Ensure bills for service providers and maintenance works executed are processed within 48 hours of receipt

 

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Supervision of facilities in the HQ building & Residences
  • Adherence to Planned Maintenance schedule by Service providers
  • Record keeping of Asset movement and disposals in HQ building and Residences
  • Sourcing and updating of quarterly schedule of market prices of goods and services relating to maintenance
  • Prompt processing of bills submitted by Contractors for maintenance works executed

 

Technical Competencies:

  • Apply the principles and understanding by preparing a fire safety strategy for commercial building
  • Carry out relevant negotiations to provide solutions to issues affecting both owners and occupiers of real estate
  • Provide evidence of reasoned advice, write and present reports on maintenance management.
  • Implementation of the procurement routes selected for projects and carrying out tendering and negotiation processes relevant to them.
  • Apply the principles of property management to provide solutions to issues affecting both owners and occupiers of real estate.
  • Apply knowledge and understanding by using an existing process to manage suppliers to ensure that the cost and quality of the service received meets organizational requirements.
  • Assess the condition of housing, prepare reports and cost estimates. Advise on obtaining funding and prepare contracts in relation to the work programmes.
  • Ability to apply knowledge to analyze data and assemble it for use in a database.
  • Application of the practical requirements and monitoring of waste facilities.
  • Knowledge of the use of the various standard forms of contract at project level including the implications and obligations that, apply to the parties to contract.
  • Involved with the insurance of construction and/or property-related matter.

 

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

Applicants should hold:

  • First degree (or equivalent) in Building, Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with bias for Building Services
  • Minimum of 3 Years relevant work experience
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies would be an added advantage (CORBON, COREN)
  • Additional professional qualifications would be an added advantage
  • Knowledge of preparation of bill of quantity would be an added advantage
  • Bilingualism (English/French) would be an added advantage.
