The   Governing Council of Bingham University wishes to invite applications from suitably qualified Internal and External candidates for the vacant positions of the following Principal Officers of the University:

 

Principal Officers of the University are expected to be morally and spiritually sound, of impeccable character, high integrity, free from financial embarrassment and enjoy good physical and mental health. Retired Officers are eligible to apply. Please note that, applicants for both vacant positions should preferably be Christians and ECWA (Evangelical Church Winning All) members.

 

Position: Vice-Chancellor

 

Duties:

  • The Vice-chancellor is the Executive and Academic Head of the University. He/She is the Chief exponent of the educational mission of the University, the philosophy of education that under girds this mission, the goals sought and the quality of performance that is required to attain these goals. The Vice-Chancellor has specified authority to maintain the efficiency and good order of the University with singular restraint.  All the other Offices of the administration are responsible to him/her.
  • He/She is the ex-officio Chairman of the Senate and is responsible for maintaining and promoting the efficiency and good order of the University. However, the administration of the University, as a whole is also governed by the policy decision of the Board of Trustees, Council, Senate and the advice emanating from the committee system.

 

Qualification:

  • A prospective candidate for the Vice-Chancellorship position must be a Ph.D degree or Fellowship of the Medical Colleges holder in:
  1. Liberal Arts
  2. Humanities
  3. Medicine
  4. Sciences
  5. Social Sciences or related disciplines.

 

  • He/She is expected to have rendered continuous service for eighteen (18) years in sufficiently Senior Academic leadership/Administrative responsibility in the University system
  • And should at least be a Reader or Associate Professor in his/her academic discipline.
  • Candidates are therefore expected to be widely knowledgeable about the operation of the University system.

 

Conditions of Service:

The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for a period of three (3) years in the first instance and renewable for another period of three (3) years and no more, on such terms and conditions of service as may be specified in his/her letter of appointment.   The remuneration and conditions of service are comparable to those of Vice-Chancellors in the Nigerian Universities and as may be determined by the Council and Proprietor from time to time.

 

Position: Bursar

 

Duties:

The Bursar shall be the Chief Financial Officer of the University and shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day to day administration and control of the financial affairs of the University.

 

Qualification:

Candidates must:

  • Possess a good honours degree in Accounting from a recognized Tertiary Institution.
  • Possess a professional recognized accounting qualification viz: ACA, ACCA, ACMA, or ANAN.
  • Have had at least fifteen (15) years post qualification cognate experience in a recognized institution of higher learning, industry, commerce or other public and private sectors.

 

Be competent in:

  1. Micro soft word processing
  2. Micro soft Excel
  3. Micro soft Access
  4. PowerPoint

 

  • Be morally and spiritually sound, of impeccable character and high integrity, free from financial embarrassment and enjoy good physical and mental health.

 

 

Conditions of Service:

The Bursar shall hold office for a period 6f three (3) years in the first instance with effect from the date he/she assumes duty and on such terms and conditions as may be specified in his/her letter of appointment and may be re-appointed for a further period of three (3) years twice and no more.

 

The remuneration and conditions of service are comparable to post of Bursar in Nigerian Universities, and as may be determined by the Council and Proprietor from time to time.

Candidates are advised to request three of their referees to forward reports on them under confidential cover, to the Registrar, Bingham University.

  1. i.                   All applications and referees reports for the position of Bursar should be submitted on or before Thursday, February 28th, 2013.
  2. ii.                 All applications and referees reports for the position of Vice-Chancellor should be submitted on or before Friday, March 29th, 2013.
