We are a pioneer and one of the largest financial institutions in East Africa with a network of branches spread across the country, offering a full range of insurance products and services. The company is seeking to recruit focused, results-oriented and suitably qualified professionals to fill the following positions:

 

Position: Chief Finance Officer (2 Positions: General and Life Insurance businesses) (Reporting to the Managing Director)

 

The Chief Finance Officer position is responsible for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the company, including the development of a financial and operational strategy. S/he is responsible for designing the metrics that help in the implementation of the financial strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve the company assets and report accurate financial results.

 

Major responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of the Company’s revenue and expenditure budgets
  • Monitor and direct the implementation of company’s expenditure budgets
  • Monitor the company’s cash flow and ensure the company is sufficiently liquid to finance its operations
  • Advise the company’s senior management on the optimal current/fixed asset ratio in line with the regulatory requirements
  • Lead the preparation of the final accounts including Profit/ Loss account and balance sheet
  • Develop and implement financial control systems in order to mitigate financial losses
  • Design and implement a system that ensures financial records are well filed and easy to retrieve.
  • Advise the company’s senior management on profitable investment opportunities that yield high returns.
  • Provide advice to senior management on tax requirements for all financial transactions
  • Provide leadership to the finance team through setting goals, coaching and appraising the performance of individual staff
  • Implement operational best practices with particular emphasis on cost-effectiveness

 

Networking

  • Maintain strong relationships with Banks
  • Represent the company with financial institutions and investors

 

Supervises: Chief Accountant, Treasury Manager and the entire Finance team

 

Qualification, experience and attributes:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics with Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or ACCA plus 10 years of progressively responsible experience in a major company or division  of a large corporation, and at least 3 years’ experience at senior management level in Finance. Possession of a Masters Degree is an added advantage.
  • Proven skills in managing change, achieving results, ensuring quality, and building teams and capacity
  • Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Access and accounting packages,
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, relational, planning and organisation skills.

 

Remuneration: Very attractive and competitive, consistent with what is obtainable in the insurance market in Rwanda.

 

Position: Commercial Director (Reporting to the Managing Director)

 

The successful candidate will develop and implement strategies to ensure that the Company meets its revenue targets. He/ She will lead, coach and supervise a team of marketers to ensure that they meet their revenue targets and also identify new business opportunities to drive business growth.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design of the long term strategic plan for the Company,
  • Design, and facilitate the implementation of the annual business/marketing plans,
  • Lead, coach and supervise a team of marketers to ensure that they meet their revenue targets.
  • Identify new business opportunities to drive business growth
  • Work with the Technical team to design tender proposals to ensure the company maximizes on business opportunities
  • Plan and administer the Company’s Marketing Operations budget,
  • Lead the preparation of the directorate revenue budget to meet the Company’s strategic and operational business plans
  • Organize presentations on company products
  • Work with IT unit to create a client database to support the creation of a customer focused approach to all business processes and activity in the company
  • Work with Corporate Communications Department to ensure the company is fully branded
  • Submit timely monthly reports to the Managing Director

 

Qualification, Experience and Attributes:

  • The incumbent should hold a Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Management or related field. A Masters Degree in Marketing or Business Administration is an added value.
  • Minimum of 8 years marketing experience in an Insurance Company, a Bank or any other big sized company
  • 3 years experience at a Director Level or 5 years experience as a Marketing Manager
  • Should be pro-active with the ability to act quickly and coordinate numerous activities at the same time.
  • Should have excellent communication skills
  • Should be proficient in English language and any one of cither Kinyarwanda or French language, both verbal and written.
