Malaria Consortium works with communities, Government and non-Governmental agencies, academic Institutions, local and international organisations; to ensure good evidence supports delivery of effective services, providing technical support for monitoring and evaluation of programmes and activities for evidence-based decision-making and strategic planning.

 

The organisation has been operational in Nigeria since 2008 and recently opened a country office in Nigeria to fully establish itself with long term commitment. Malaria Consortium now seeks to recruit professionals in its newly established Country Office and new projects / programmes in Nigeria:

 

Position: Accounts Officer – Cash

  • The Accounts Officer will provide cashier functions to the MC Country Office and maintain proper records of all transactions in accordance with MC financial procedures. Additional responsibilities include; maintaining the petty cash using impress records, preparing cash payments and obtain approval from authorised personnel; archiving all finance documents and ensuring they are in safe custody and easily accessible by the finance team.

 

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting with a minimum of three years’ experience in a finance team. Previous knowledge of NGO donors and their financial reporting requirements is essential for this position. Excellent working knowledge of computers as well as accounting sort wares is required.

 

SMC Project:

The SMC Project will explore the feasibility, effectiveness, acceptability and costs of implementation of Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) previously referred to as to as Intermittent Preventive Treatment in children (IPTc).

 

Position: Project Coordinator: Abuja

 

  • This senior position with close support from the in-country Project Director and the Principle Investigator to effectively manage project activities and resources; particularly in Katsina and its Local Government Areas.

 

Additional key responsibilities include;

Providing leadership and stewardship to the project team and maintain collaborative links with the project’s key stakeholders at the national and sub-national levels;

  • Providing support to the Research officer to develop study protocols and study operating procedures to effectively implement research activities;
  • Working with relevant authorities to ensure that health commodities required for the project are approved, procured and distributed to direct beneficiaries;
  • Sourcing and recruitment of short term consultants and manage them in order to ensure that they achieve their deliverables on time;
  • Overseeing the development and implementation of a project monitoring and evaluation plan, project communication plan and advocacy plan;

 

Qualifications:

  • An experienced Health Professional with a degree in International or Public Health is required for this position.
  • A minimum of 7-years working experience directly managing and implementing large or complex projects.
  • S/he must have good understanding of malaria case management, project management principles, budgeting and the Nigerian health system.
  • Ability to operate at enhanced levels with programme partners within the donor community is essential.
  • Similarly, familiarity with the health and cultural setting of Northern Nigeria, strong communication and coordination skills are required for this position.
  • The ability to communicate fluently in Hausa language is required.
