State Logistics Officer (Sokoto) (Long-Term Consultant Position) at John Snow, Inc. (JSI)

John Snow, Inc. (JSI) is a US based international public health firm managing three supply chain management-related projects through its integrated offices in Abuja, Nigeria. JSI is implementing the USAID/DELIVER PROJECT, a technical assistance project funded by USAID and aimed at increasing the availability of essential health supplies by providing procurement services and strengthening supply chains in developing countries. In addition to the public health program areas, the USAID/DELIVER PROJECT also works in malaria, and the selected candidate may be tasked with supporting other areas of work when necessary. JSI also implements the Supply Chain Management System (SCMS) contract for the US Government as part of the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief.

 

The USAID/DELIVER PROJECT Nigeria office is seeking qualified candidates for the following positions:

 

Position: State Logistics Officer (Sokoto) (Long-Term Consultant Position)

 

The Long-Term Consultant State Logistics Officer will be based in Sokoto and will manage public health commodities logistics activities implemented by the USAID/DELIVER PROJECT in Sokoto. The State Logistics Officer will work under the guidance of the Associate Director, Public Health.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct supportive supervision for state, LGA and service delivery point logistics operators in partnership with state and local government counterparts
  2. Conduct routine review and resupply meetings to facilitate the distribution of family planning commodities to facilities and timely submission of LMIS reports
  3. Liaise with the USAID/DELIVER PROJECT’S management in Abuja to ensure high-quality and standardization of all training, advocacy, data collection, and reporting
  4. Advocate for good  contraceptive  logistics management practices and support with state, LGA, and community stakeholders,  including the government at all levels and NGOs
  5. Collaborate with the Targeted States High Impact Project (TSHIP) to ensure cooperative and integrated approach to improving health services in the state
  6. Ensure timely collection of appropriate data for project indicators
  7. Help write routine quarterly and annual reports for submission to program funders
  8. Contribute to the identification of best practices and success stories for JSI Nigeria’s periodic logistics bulletin
  9. Work with STTA providers to provide required technical assistance for activities and facilitate transfer of skills to appropriate local staff
  10. Perform any other duties assigned

 

Minimum Skills/Knowledge and Qualification:

Applicants for this position should possess the following minimum skills and qualification:

  • Certificate in Nursing and Midwifery and/or first degree in Public and/or Community Health, Community Development, or Social Sciences
  • Three or more years work experience in monitoring and evaluation
  • Experience working in reproductive health and/or logistics with extensive field experience in northern Nigeria
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and independently
  • Excellent written and verbal English and Hausa language skills. Proficiency in Hausa is a prerequisite and should be stated in the cover letter.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel
