The University
The Kwararafa University founded by WUCOLEE Nigeria Ltd is the first and only Community-based University in Nigeria.
The University was approved by the Federal Government and duly licensed for operation in June 2005. It admitted its first batch of students in March, 2006. The University has 3 Colleges (social and Management Sciences, Education and Natural and Applied Sciences). A College of Humanities will be in introduced in the 2013-2014 Academic Session.
The University has Prof. Jerry Gana, (CON) as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council and Prof. Yakubu Aboki Ochefu as the Vice-Chancellor. The city of Wukari where the University is located is a peaceful ancient traditional town, located along the Jalingo-Makurdi Federal highway, approximately 200km from the capital cities of Jalingo in Taraba State and Makurdi in Benue State
Position: Registrar
The Position:
The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University and shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administrative work of the University except as regards academic and financial matters. The Registrar carries an enormous responsibility. Promotion of the welfare and discipline of academic and non-teaching staff relies largely on the capability and quality leadership the Registrar can provide. The Registrar is, by virtue of that office, Secretary to Council, Senate, Congregation and Convocation.
The Candidate
The candidate shall be a person of rounded character and personality with excellent interpersonal relations. He /she must be able to instill confidence in others and command the loyalty and respect of people. He /She must fully understand the complexity of a University system and be capable of bringing out the best in the subordinates.
Candidates must be information and Communication Technology (ICT) compliant and be a good team player. He /She must be of pleasant disposition, high integrity and strong moral character so as to inspire and maintain discipline among staff and students.
Qualifications:
- Candidates must possess a good honours Degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division in Humanities or related disciplines obtained from a recognized University and must have had not less than twelve (12) years of relevant post-graduation experience in University administration or related institution.
- The candidate should not be below the rank of a Deputy Registrar or cognate senior management position.
- Possession of a higher degree will be an added advantage. Retired Registered and Deputy Registered are welcome to apply.
Condition of Service:
The successful candidate shall hold office for a renewable single form of five years on such terms and conditions as may be applicable to other Universities in Nigeria and as may be determined by appropriate University Laws and the Council.
Position: Bursar
The Position:
The Bursar is a Principal Officer and is the Chief Financial Officer of the University responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administrative and control of the financial affairs of the University. He /she should provide the University Management with appropriate advice and support for all of the institution’s financial transactions including investments.
The Candidate
- The candidate shall be a person of impeccable character and integrity with excellent interpersonal relations.
- He /she must be able to instill confidence in others and command the loyalty and respect of people. He /She must fully understand the complexity of a University system and be capable of bringing out the best in the subordinates.
- Candidates must have very strong Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills with special proficiency in MS Excel and leading software based accounting packages.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
Prospective candidates must hold a good first Degree in Accounting or related discipline from a recognized University.
In addition, he must be a member of at least one of the under listed professional bodies:
- Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), or England and Wales, or Scotland, or Ireland
- Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN)
- Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (ACCA)
- Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CPA)
- Chartered Institute of Cost and Management Accountants (ICMA)
Experience:
- The applicant must currently not be lower than the rank of a Deputy Bursar and must have a minimum of Ten (10) years cognate experience, six (6) years which must have been spent preferably in a University or cognate institution. Retired Bursars and Deputy Bursars are welcome to apply.
