Project Officer Research in an International Organization

We are an International Organization working with partners in developing countries to eliminate avoidable blindness and promote equality of opportunity for disabled people. We support research into innovative, scalable and cost-effective approach to strengthen health systems which will lead to the elimination of avoidable blindness and promotion of equal opportunities for people with disabilities. Applications are invited from suitable candidates to fill the position of Project Officer Research in our office in Kaduna, Kaduna State, Nigeria.

 

Position: Project Officer Research

 

Description of Post/Responsibilities:

  • To lead the implementation of research initiatives in the country office.
  • Work with academic partners to ensure effective and smooth implementation of research projects to high quality and within the budget.
  • To support the Country office in formulating relevant research questions and identifying projects where research could be integrated.
  • To work with the Sight-savers Research team, academic partners and in-country stakeholders to develop high quality research concept notes and proposals.
  • To contribute to compiling reports for the research initiatives and annual reports, where applicable.

 

We are looking for a Project Officer Research to support this programme. The candidate should demonstrate the following:

 

Essential:

  • Postgraduate degree in a relevant field (Public Health, Epidemiology, Social Sciences, Health System Management or related disciplines).
  • Demonstrable experience of designing and delivering research projects in an academic or NGO environment, including writing research protocols; tool development; ethics application; data collection and analysis and the overall research management.
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods, including use of appropriate tools and software for data analysis.
  • Understanding of the institutional landscape governing the administration of health systems in Nigeria.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (both oral and written)
  • Desirable:
  • Extensive project management skills and experience including working with project budgets, forecasts and reports.
  • Demonstrable experience working in international development.
  • Experience of grant management and working with donor agencies.\
  • Experience of writing research grant applications, research reports and peer-reviewed publications.
