Vacancies: Chief Ethic Officer, Ethics Officer
The Securities and Exchange Commission is the apex regulator of the capital, market in Nigeria. As part of strengthening its corporate governance system an Ethics office is being newly created in the Commission with two positions requiring urgent resourcing in the first instance. The successful, candidates will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Commission’s operations and ensure that they are consent with the Commission’s code of ethics. The successful candidate will ensure the fostering and maintenance of integrity and ethical behavior, manage the whistle blowing hotlines and the resultant complaints about business practices, hold regular dialogue with potential whistleblowers, and be responsible for some key result areas of the regulatory and compliance work in the Commission.
Job Title: Chief Ethic Officer – ceofficer@sec.gov.ng
Job Accountabilities:
- Develop and communicate the corporate values Commission and incorporate them into a code of ethics
- Develop, maintain and revise policies and procedures for general operation of the Commission’s ethics programme
- Develop and maintain confidential procedure for handling all processing of complaints and allegations as appropriate
- Craft and ensure dissemination of corporate ethics statements, support forms and relevant tools
- Lead annual corporate governance audits and present findings to the executive management team.
- Create a reporting system and procedure for employees and other stakeholders to report ethical lapses or illegal activities ,
- Ensure consistency and integration of ethics policy with corporate* -philosophies and practice
- Design and deliver ethics training programmes to familiarise employees with the Commission’s compliance and ethical goals
- Ensure that the Commission’s code of ethics is a dynamic document and that it is modified to reflect changing attitudes and concerns within the business world.
- Lead / refer investigations of reported unethical activities as appropriate
- Produce periodic reports to executive management and the Board on the state of the Commission’s ethical affairs.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 20 years relevant experience (Advanced d advantage)
- Corporate governance knowledge and experience a must
- Strong conviction about right & wrong and proven track record of strong ethical conduct.
- Strong desire to ensure that the interests of all parties are protected in all that the Commission says and does.
- Strong Leadership and people management skills
- Relevant IT skills

- Assist in ensuring that the Commission’s code of ethics is a dynamic document and that it is modified to reflect changing attitudes and concerns within the business world.
- Take part in investigations of unethical activities as appropriate
- Contribute divisional periodic reports.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years relevant experience (Advanced degrees an advantage)
- Corporate governance knowledge is a must
- Strong conviction about right and wrong & proven track record of strong ethical conduct
- Good team working skill
- Relevant IT skills
