Vacancies: State Team Leader, Service Delivery Advisor
A mission driven International Organization and global leader in research, technical assistance, and program Implementation across more than 40 countries worldwide in the fields of health, social / environmental policy, and International development seeks qualified candidates to compliment our current teams in the expansion of activities focused on improving planning, financing and delivery of sustainable and replicable pro poor health services for common health problems in northern Nigeria. The program works towards achieving better public healthcare services across the country by shifting the emphasis from curative to preventive health care, increasing training of staff, introducing new incentive packages to retain doctors and nurses in the poorest areas, enhancing the speed and efficiency in which the flow of drugs are managed across all states, and the overall improvement of government planning and management.
We seek candidates for the following positions listed below based in Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, Katsina, Niger, Zamfara, and Yobe (1 position per state).
Position: State Team Leader
Oversee implementation, monitoring, and review/reporting program outputs at the state level to ensure the implementation of the State Teams’ work by developing, reviewing, and approving internal program work plans and action plans. Participate in program-wide annual planning and evaluation activities. Responsible for the timely completion of agreed activities as specified in work plans, including drafting terms of reference for short-term consultancy inputs then monitoring these inputs ensuring adherence to TORs Establish and maintain effective working relationships with officials in the state Ministry of Health, key individuals in the government and with representatives of other aid agencies, the private sector and civil society groups in their respective state. Take management responsibility for the state office, ensuring its smooth business operations and sound financial transactions. Coordinate collaboration and alignment with other DFID projects within the state.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree, PhD or MD in Public Health, Management, or other relevant field. Ten (10) years of relevant professional work experience. Five (5) or more years of international project management experience.
- Experience in project implementation and policy reform. Successful track record as project manager. Proven experience successfully managing staff, demonstrated leadership skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, initiative, and good judgment. Ability to independently plan and execute complex tasks while addressing daily management details and remaining organized and focused on long-term deadlines and strategy.
Position: Service Delivery Advisor
Provide direction, leadership, and on-going assessment of the project’s service delivery components. Direct implementation of service delivery activities at the state level, and ensure the achievement of expected outcomes.
Provide technical assistance to improve the delivery of pro-poor, high quality preventive and curative services to targeted populations.
Provide technical assistance in the development and implementation of an essential package of care based on interventions known to maximize child and maternal health in resource poor settings.
Explore opportunities to collaborate with the private sector and non- governmental organizations providing health services in the poorer areas. Provide technical assistance in service delivery to state level technical teams.
Oversee the training of health care providers in quality improvement and quality service delivery.
Ensure accurate and timely submission of all required technical reporting and deliverables for the service delivery component of the project.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree, PhD, or MD in Public Health or other relevant field. Eight (8) years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience in policy reform and implementation.
- Proven experience successfully managing staff, demonstrated leadership skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, initiative, and good judgment. Ability to anticipate and problem solve.
Note
All candidates must have a minimum of a master’s degree in a relevant discipline, prior donor-funded experience related to health, and an outstanding professional reputation.
