AIDS Prevention Initiative in Nigeria (APIN) is a non-governmental donor-funded organization dedicated to the prevention, treatment, care and support of diseases of public health importance in Nigeria, including HIV/AIDS. tuberculosis and malaria, among others. Since 2001, we have closely with key stakeholders to reduce the burden and mitigate the impact of those diseases through cutting edge, innovative & sustainable approaches

We are seeking qualified and suitable candidates to assume the following positions:

Position: Program Advisor – Clinical Services (Private Sector) (Jos)

Job Tasks

  • Interface between the APIN Programme Office on the one hand and the APIN partner sites and HIV stakeholders in the state on the other
  • Work towards complete coverage of the state by identifying areas of unmet need for HIV services and anchor scale up of HIV services to private facilities in the state
  • Provide technical and programmatic support for the implementation of high quality treatment, care and support programme and work towards target achievement at APIN supported private facilities
  • Collaborate with other team members to support the development and implementation of site work plan, towards achieving high quality health care delivery and programme sustainability
  • Work with the state office head to coordinate the implementation of all components related to the clinical management of HIV/AIDS at supported private facilities
  • Work with stakeholders to plan, implement, monitor and evaluate ART, PMTCT, HIV/TB and Care & Support programme in private facilities in the state, using international best practices
  • Work closely with team members to document best practices, share experience and make recommendations as appropriate

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • A degree in the Medical Sciences (MBBS or MB.Bch.), and a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment programmes; experience in MNCH, RH, Malaria and TB programmes would be an advantage

Technical and Behavioural Competencies

  • Good working knowledge of current national and WHO HIV/AIDS guidelines for prevention, treatment, care & support of adults and children
  • Knowledge of models of working with and linking different tiers of private health care facilities
  • Ability to multitask, with knowledge of various programme areas
  • Work with discretion and minimal supervision
  • Understanding of community systems and how they impact service utilization
  • Ability to provide mentorship and integrated supportive supervision to all categories of HCWs in the private sector
  • Knowledge of HCT, PMTCT and ART national M/E tools
  • Ability to organize and coordinate training programmes and meetings
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skill

 

Position: Program Advisor- Monitoring & Evaluation (Lagos & Ibadan)

A member of the State Team, the job holder will work with the Program Officer – Monitoring & the implementation of monitoring & evaluation (M&E) and quality assurance (QA) systems, the Strategic Information (SI) Team.

Job Tasks

  • Assist in setting up M&E and QA systems at the program sites in the state
  • Provide technical assistance to program sites in the collection, analysis, reporting and use of output data for program improvement
  • Collate monthly reports and provide feedbacks on the consistency of data with program design in collaboration with the state team.
  • Support the provision of program output data to the state team and relevant government agencies through the state Program Officers – Monitoring & Evaluation
  • Participate in periodic and donor initiated Data Quality Audits (DQAs) at APIN supported health facilities and Civil Society Organizations
  • Support the monitoring of the progress being made towards achieving program targets in the state
  • Working collaboration with the State Team to follow up on monitoring & evaluation committees at the program sites to ensure the promotion of data utilization by relevant end users
  • Assist in the provision of technical support to strengthen the M&E systems at the state level
  • Conduct periodic visits to program sites, travelling up to 25% of the time

 

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • A Health or Social Science degree, with a minimum of four (4) years’ experience, including at least two (2) years supporting the implementation of M&E systems and conducting program evaluation

Technical and Behavioral Competencies

  • Working knowledge of program monitoring & evaluation and program management
  • Good analytical skills and good knowledge of statistical methods
  • Knowledge of HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment, including HIV/AIDS guidelines and standards with respect to  monitoring & evaluation
  • Ability to organize and coordinate training programmes
  • Report writing and oral/written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skill
