Introduction
An international non-governmental organization currently implementing a program to improve the participation of key Nigerian stakeholders in the electoral process is looking for Nigerian citizens to fill positions within its offices in Abuja, Nigeria. These stakeholders include: political parties; election authorities; media; and marginalized voter groups such as women, youth and persons with disabilities. Increasing and improving electoral participation is crucial to improving electoral credibility. The program’s specific objectives are to:
- Strengthen the capacity of political parties to more effectively and responsibly participate in the electoral process,
- Strengthen capacity of domestic observers and party agents to monitor national and state elections.
- Enhance the democratic role of and use of new and traditional media in the political process.
- To promote stakeholder dialogues on the electoral process.
Position: Accountant
Reporting: The Accountant reports to the Country Director
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain and submit finance and accounting records
- Prepare budgets
- Review of reconciliations, support documents and requests for payments
- Supervise Junior Accountant
- Assist the Country Director in the financial management of office
- Preparation of staff payroll
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- At least 5 years work experience with an NGO, or appropriate internationally recognized institution, with proven ability in financial management and accounting,
- Experience in staff management, capacity building, including training, mentoring, and coaching. Demonstrable written and oral communication skills
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and Quicken
Position: Drivers
Duties and Responsibilities
- Driving
- Maintain and record information relating to the assigned vehicle in a vehicle log book
- Ensure that assigned vehicle is kept in a road worthy condition in all respects and to report any malfunction to administration
- Ensure that vehicle routine service is undertaken and replacement of tires, brakes and other essential parties is done on a timely basis.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least 3 years driving and vehicle maintenance work experience with the NGO or reputable company
- Proven integrity, flexibility and professional competence.
