IITA is an international non-profit research-for-development (R4D) organization created in 1967, governed by a Board of Trustees, and supported primarily by the Consultative Group of International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigerian Nationals for the following positions at the Headquarters. Ibadan
Position: Accounting Assistant II
(2 year renewable Contract)
Duties
Successful candidate will among other things perform the following:
- Preparation of budget for Bilateral and Window 3 projects and uploading same in the oracle interface.
- Preparation and reviewing of financial statement on restricted projects.
- Checking processing and reporting on returns and justifications or funds granted to IITA collaborators/partners.
- Raising of journals for adjustments necessary on various accounts and loading same on oracle interface.
- Attending to queries raised by budget officers on core restricted projects.
- Updating, reviewing, and reconciling bill receivables from donors with the total grant income of restricted projects.
- Assist in the preparation of overhead charges to Bilateral and Window 3 projects.
- Assist in the checking of Cashier’s cash balances as scheduled.
- Performing other duties that could be assigned from time to time
Qualification and Experience
- B.Sc/HND Accounting/Business Management, ICAN, PE II would be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 2 years work experience in a related role of a large organization is required.
The ideal candidate must possess:
- Excellent computer skills with good grasp of spreadsheets, word processing and other MS office applications with good knowledge of Oracle Applications
- Excellent English reporting, writing and oral communication skills
- Strong ability to co-ordinate, prioritise and organize workload; take initiative and work under pressure
- Good team spirit and also participate as a team member in accomplishment of duties
Position: Project Accounting Officer
(2 year renewable Contract)
Successful candidate will among other things perform the following:
- Preparation of donor financial statements and attendance to ensuing queries.
- Estimation of Institute’s monthly overhead recoveries
- Calculation and booking of monthly cost shift/charge back.
- Monitoring and updating of cost centers and reserved segment codes on oracle system.
- Preparation and loading of journals using ADI into oracle interface.
- Taking part in the preparation of monthly Management Accounts Tables.
- Coordination of budget preparation and financial reports of Inter-center projects.
- Monthly preparation of account receivables.
- Preparation of invoices for both grant contributions and other miscellaneous receivables.
- Designing and running of financial reports using FSG.
- Taking part in the preparation of monthly and yearly audit schedules. Involved in other monthly reports; viz, accrual liabilities, prepayments, outstations terminal benefits, miscellaneous receivables.
- Sending acknowledgement of receipts to concerned donors on projects ‘
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
Qualification and Experience
- B.Sc/HND Accounting/Business Management, ACA would be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 4 years work experience in a related role of a large organization is required.

Position: Account Clerk II
(2 year renewable Contract)
Successful candidate will among other things perform the following:
- Keying of transaction into Oracle Application
- Handling of blank cheques during working hours
- Handling local payment
- Assist the Finance Manager on bank reconciliation
- Assist in the reconciliation of statement of account of local suppliers
- Relieving the General Clerk while on leave
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
Qualification and Experience
- OND Accounting/Business Management ICAN Foundation Certificate would be an added advantage.
