Our client, a Leading Provider of Hospitality, Hotel and Catering Service in Ibadan, Oyo State, currently requires the services of a seasoned individual to head its Finance Department.
Position: Accounts Manager
The desired candidate will, amongst other finance duties, be required to:
- Establish major economic objectives and policies for the company
- Direct and prepare financial analyses of operations for guidance of Management
- Report and recommend to management and the Board of directors in regard to policies and programs
- Plan and direct new operational procedures to obtain optimum efficiency and reduced costs
- Establish extensive line of credit
- Direct receipt, disbursement, and expenditures of money or capital assets
- Approve and sign documents effecting monetary transactions
- Direct the activities concerned with safekeeping, control, and accounting for assets and securities
- Direct the preparation and implementation of budgets and financial forecasts
- Direct the preparation of reports that outline company’s financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present and future operations
- Direct preparation of directives to division or department administrators outlining policy, program, or operating changes to be implemented
- Promote organisation in financial markets to assure sources of capital
- Supervise Accounting Staff
- Monitor compliance with accounting policies and procedures in accordance with Federal and State Regulations
- Review existing policies and procedures and recommend improvements
- Assist in annual review of records by the external financial consultants and auditors
- Participate in special projects as assigned by management
- Prepare cash deposits and post on a daily basis
- Prepare and reconcile monthly general ledger, accounts receivable, and cash management closing entries
- Run accounts receivable reports ( Debtors report) for management on a daily basis
- Ensure that the Food & Beverages Control section provides timely and accurate reports to Management review and support the plans of the Food & Beverages Manager to control costs and improve revenues
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities required being eligible for position:
- Qualified Chartered Accountant with at least 5 years post-qualification experience
- Experience in designing/improving accounting processes including monthly close, budgeting, forecasting, consolidations and management and financial reporting
- Strong management skills required to lead, manage and motivate the team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Interpersonal and organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure
- 10 years of progressive hands-on experience in finance, preferably in the hotel industry,
- Prior experience in supervision of staff is preferred
- Multi-company/ multi-division experience is preferred
- Hotel / Property Management experience is preferred
- Experience in related industries such as hotel/resort operations is desirable
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- Ability to refine current processes and make recommendations for improvement
- Working knowledge of accounting software and major ERP programs, as well as Excel and Microsoft programs are required
- Ability to take initiative, maintain confidentiality, and work in a team environment
