The Institution
The University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, a specialized University, was established on 1st January. 1988. It has attained a position of eminence in various agricultural services, veterinary medicine and engineering.
Position: Bursar
The Position
The Bursar is a Principal Officer and in accordance with die University Act. the Chief Finance Officer of the University. He is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-today administration and control of the financial affairs of the University.
Applicants for this key management position must be candidates with vision, proven professional distinction, managerial ability, integrity and transparency in private and public life, who should be able to provide the Management of the University with appropriate advice on finance and support for all of the institution’s financial transactions.
The right candidate should also have the ability to develop linkages with the external communities to support the needs of the University, command respect and engender the cooperation and loyalty of staff and students of the institution.
Qualifications:
- Candidates must possess a good honours Degree (or equivalent) in Accountancy or related discipline from a recognized University or Tertiary Institution as Accountancy qualification of ACA, ACMA, CPA, ACCA, ICAN from any of the following bodies
1. Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria
2. Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales
3. Institute of Cost and Management Accountants
4. Institute of Certified Public Accountants
5. Association of National Accountants of Nigeria
While the possession of any relevant postgraduate qualification will be an advantage, applicants must also be computer-literate and have a working knowledge of a good Accounting package.
Experience:
Candidates are required to have a minimum of fifteen (i5) years post -graduation experience with a minimum of twelve (12) years cognate experience after professional qualification. Experience in a University or comparable institution will be an advantage.
Salary and Conditions of Service
The remuneration and other conditions of service arc as applicable to the post of Bursar of all Nigerian Federal Universities and as may be determined from time-to-time by the Government/Governing Council as appropriate. In accordance with the Universities Miscellaneous Provisions Decree No. 11 of 1993 (as amended), Sections 6 (4) and 6 (5), the successful candidate shall hold office for five (5) years in the first instance. The appointment may, however, be renewed for another five years and no more. Fringe benefits include a Pension in consonance with the Contributory Pension Scheme and appropriate allowances as may be approved from time-to-time by the Government/University Council.
