Vacancies: College Bursar, College Librarian
Preamble
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the posts of College Bursar and college Librarian of the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta that will become vacant in April 2013.
The College
The Federal College of Education, Abeokuta was established in 1976, and occupies a land area of 632.15 hectares along the Abeokuta-Ibadan Road, Osiele, Abeokuta, Ogun State. The Vision and philosophy of the College is to produce professionally trained teachers who will stand the test of time in their areas of specialization and be responsive to societal needs in the delivery and pursuit of educational excellence.
Position: College Bursar
The Bursar is a Principal Officer of the College responsible to the Provost for the day-to-day administration and control of the financial affairs of the College. By virtue of this position, the Bursar provides the Management of the College with appropriate and sound advice on financial matters. The Bursar then must demonstrate considerable degree of competence, responsiveness, integrity, and transparency on financial matters.
The Person
- Candidate must possess B.Sc. /H.N.D. Accounting/Finance/Economics plus final examination/ membership of any of the following recognized professional accounting bodies – ICAN, ANAN -and with a minimum of eighteen (18) years relevant cognate experience.
- A Masters Degree in any of Accounting, Finance, Banking, or Business Administration will be an added advantage.
- The Candidate is also expected to be ICT compliant with excellent working knowledge of good accounting packages.
- Additionally, the Candidate must have attained senior management position equivalent to the rank of a Deputy Bursar for at least four (4) years, preferably in a College of Education system.
Position: College Librarian
The College Librarian is a Principal Officer responsible to the Provost for the day-to-day administration and control of Library matters in the College. The Librarian shall be in charge of the Management and administration of the College Library Services, staff, and facilities.
The Person
- The Candidate must possess a Ph.D. Degree in Library Studies with at least fifteen (15) years cognate experience
- or a Masters in Library Studies with at least eighteen (18) years cognate experience.
- The Candidate must also be a member of professional bodies related to Library Services and must have a good record of scholarly publications through reputable medium.
- Versatility in IT and Library automation is highly required.
- The applicant shall not be below the rank of Deputy Librarian or equivalent for at least four (4) years, preferably in a College of Education system or a comparable organization.
Condition of Service:
The salary and condition of service for the two Principal Officers shall be in accordance with what obtains in the Nigerian Federal College of Education system.
