Vacancies: Director Tax Operations, Director Tax Audit/Investigations
Our client, a forward looking State Government in the Niger Delta has mandated us to carry out an Executive recruitment exercise to acquire a qualified and high achieving workforce for its Revenue Service. The potential candidates will be obligated to strengthen the service, build each Directorate to meet the goals and objectives and ensure consistent achievement of superior results for the service.
Position: Director, Tax Operations
This role reports directly to the Chairman/CEO of the Service.
Job Role
- Formulation of medium and short-term goals and objectives of the Directorate.
- With the approval of the Chairman CEO, set revenue targets for heads of the various revenue units as well as the regional heads.
- Supervises and manage the performance of heads of units under his directorate to ensure that they meet their respective revenue targets.
- In collaboration with the Head, Information Technology, ensure the creation and management of robust taxpayers’ electronic database.
- Oversee the gathering of all information relevant to the Assessment and Collection of tax revenues for the State Service.
- Ensure the issuance of taxpayer identification numbers to every taxable person in the state
- Ensure the effective collection of all taxes and penalties due to the Government under the relevant laws
Minimum Qualifications
- Applicant must possess B.sc/HND in Accountancy, Economics, Finance, Banking, Management or Administration from a reputable university or Polytechnic
- Membership of a recognised professional Accountancy body.
- Minimum of 15 years work experience out of which 5 years must be in Management position in the public or private sector or an international multilateral institution.
- Must have demonstrated hands-on approach and success in working/leading in a team-based environment .
- Master’s degree preferably in Business Administration
Skills/Competencies
- Experience in setting up and critically reviewing operational performance
- Deep Experience and knowledge of Nigerian Tax System
- Good organizational, leadership and supervisory skills
- Good IT Skills.
Position: Director Tax Audit/Investigations
This role reports directly to the Chairman/CEO
Job Role
- Develop and manage the achievement of the medium and short-term goals and objectives of the Directorate.
- Develop and manage effectively a robust audit and investigation framework that will ensure the reduction or elimination of tax frauds, evasion, avoidance, assessment errors and mistakes.
- Produce and cause of fully implement audit and investigation programmes for internal and field use
- Install the procedures for the efficient monitoring and controlling of the activities of the service
- Ensure the identification of taxpayers who have ceased filing required returns and detection, registering and bringing into compliance individuals and business, which have defaulted in filing their returns
- Produce all exceptional reports of departure from the service’s set rules and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
