 Our client is leading commercial bank with presence and visibility across Nigeria. As a result of recent strategic reorganization and renewal initiatives, the bank is desirous of filling critical vacancies at management levels with the objective of imbuing the institution with the right level of management capacity required to achieve its corporate and strategic objective. In view of this need, our client requires highly qualified, motivated, ambitious and experienced individuals to further support her business by occupying the following positions.

 

Position: Divisional Head, Corporate Banking (NXT/DHCBD)

 

The successful candidates will be responsible for the provision of overall divisional leadership and direction while ensuring that the corporate banking activities are effectively coordinated bank-wide. The candidate will be expected to formulate and facilitate the implement of strategies which will grow the Bank’s market share, profitability and related objectives in the Corporate Banking Segment. The candidate will be a key member of the bank’s management team playing a leading role in the coordination and communication of business activities, acting as a catalyst of change and will have specific accountability for ensuring the growth and development of the bank’s Corporate Banking Segment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Actively contribute to the development of the Bank’s corporate and competitive strategy.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Corporate Banking Division in the day-to-day running of the division.
  • Lead the formulation of detailed SBU plan to achieve the Bank’s strategic objectives in the Corporate Banking division.
  • Oversee the preparation of the division’s annual budget and monitor the implementation to ensure achievement of set targets.
  • Ensure leading-edge products/services are developed proactively and deployed speedily and profitably, to meet the identified need of target customer segments.
  • Manage the Bank en   tire Corporate Banking portfolio to minimize business risks and maximize profitability for the Bank.
  • Oversee the Bank relationship management function and serve as relationship management arrowhead on significant existing/new accounts in the corporate banking segment of the market including working with the zonal head to extract spin-off retail, SME and commercial businesses from the bank’s corporate customers under management.
  • Prepare consumer credit requests in line with the Bank’s credit policy
  • Ensure proper coordination of plan and activities among the Corporate Banking market segment functions
  • Intervene to resolve sensitive or complex relationship issues to ensure customer satisfactions
  • Coordinate and evaluate various project financing options available to the Bank and its customers and advise Management accordingly
  • Drive the sourcing of long term foreign currency funding from foreign banks and multilateral institutions
  • Oversee and supervise the treasury activities of the bank to minimize business risks and maximize profitability for the Bank
  • Identify and contribute improvement opportunities to promote safe and sound credit practices in the Bank especially as it relates to corporate/ wholesale banking.
  • Authorize major division expenditure /transactions in line with the Bank’s approved authority limits
  • Periodically review key divisional activity and performance reports and take appropriate action to ensure the Bank’s business objectives are achieved.
  • Initiate and facilitate divisional meeting to define and agree on target and work-plans, consistent with the SBU strategy and plans
  • Identify critical interdependencies among the other divisions and forge effective organizational linkage to ensure a concerted /seamless implementation of the Bank’s overall business strategy (Zones, Risk Management, Public Banking).
  • Coordinate and champion the execution of the performance management, career development and staff promotion processes for the division, in line with the Bank’s Human Capital policies
  • Regularly monitor and evaluate the performance of the division on a timely basis.
  • Serve on committees or cross-functional teams and perform other duties as assigned by the Managing Director or the Board of Directors.

 

Qualification and Experience

  • First degree or its equivalent from a reputable university
  • A higher degree or relevant professional business qualification will be an advantage.
  • Twelve (12) years cognate experience with at least six (6) in executive management capacity.
  • Good understanding of competing product and service offerings in the market place.
  • Ability to generate creative ideas by combining the benefit of several alternatives
  • Ability to recognize and weighs risks associated with innovative ideas.
  • Ability to define and execute retention strategies for attracting and retaining high value customers.
  • Skill/experience in identifying control techniques to mitigate organizational, and business process risks.
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal skills.

 

Position: Divisional Head, Retail Banking (NXT/DHRBD)

The successful candidates will be responsible for the provision of overall divisional leadership and direction while ensuring that the retail banking activities are effectively coordinated bank-wide. The candidate will be expected to formulate and facilitate the implement of strategies which will grow the Bank’s market share, profitability and related objectives in the Retail Banking Segment. The candidate will be a key member of the bank’s management team playing a leading role in the coordination and communication of business activities, acting as a catalyst of change and will have specific accountability for ensuring the growth and development of the bank’s Retail Banking Segment.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Actively contribute to the development of the Bank’s overall corporate and competitive strategy.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Corporate Banking Division in the day-to-day running of the division.
  • Lead the formulation of detailed SBU plan to achieve the Bank’s strategic objectives in the Retail Banking division.
  • Oversee the preparation of the division’s annual financial and operating plan and monitor its implementation to meet set targets.
  • Ensure leading-edge products/services are developed proactively and deployed speedily and profitably, to meet the identified need of target customer segments.
  • Manage and monitor the Bank entire Retail Banking portfolio to minimize business risks and maximize profitability for the Bank.
  • Oversee the create and development of new products and regular refreshing of existing products to meet customer’s change needs
  • Develop and drive the development of alternative distribution channels to ensure maximum utilization,  good working condition and customer satisfaction
  • Develop and coordinate the implementation of relevant marketing promotions and programs to support product sales.
  • Provide strategic research based marketing and customer insights to drive sales efforts across the bank.
  • Authorize major divisional expenditure /transactions in line with the Bank’s approved authority limits
  • Participate and effectively represent the bank on industry committees and initiatives
  • Identify critical inter-dependencies among the other divisions and forge effective organizational linkage to ensure a concerted /seamless implementation of the Bank’s overall retail strategy (especially in relation to product sales and technical /operating support).
  • Coordinate and champion the execution of the performance management, career development and staff promotion processes for the division, in line with the Bank’s Human Capital policies
  • Serve on committees or cross-functional teams and perform other duties as assigned by the Managing Director or the Board of Directors.

Position: Zonal Head, South (NXT/ZHS)

The successful candidates will be responsible for the provision of Zonal leadership in the relationship management function in order to maximize the bank’s growth and profitability objectives. The candidate will be expected to coordinate the activities of the regional managers in the bank’s relationship management activities in a risks sensitive and cost effective manner while attaining the zonal financial targets

Responsibilities: 

  • Formulate strategies and plans to enable the Bank secure profitable business relationships within the assigned zone.
  • Communicate and monitor the implementation of the Bands marketing strategy at the zonal level.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to subordinate staff in the zone.
  • Establish and monitor the achievement of targets by the Regional Managers.
  • Maintain cordial and profitable customer relationships and identify new ones.
  • Deposit mobilization in line with zonal targets.
  • Intervene to resolve sensitive or complex relationship issues to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Identify customer/market needs and proactively seek to provide products/services to meet these needs.
  • Ensure timely review and approval of credit requests in line with the Bank’s policy.
  • Build and maintain a sound credit portfolio within assigned zone.
  • Champion the recovery effort in respect of non- performing credit facilities.
  • Coordinate/monitor zonal activities and ensure timely and efficient resolution of operational issues.
  • Monitor the quality of existing credit relationships on a continuous basis.
  • Initiate and participate in zonal meetings as required.
  • Regularly monitor and evaluate the performance of Regional Managers on a timely basis.
  • Oversee and supervise the relationship management of high net-worth accounts.
  • Ensure the Bank s Human Capital policies are applied consistency across the zone.
  • Ensure that weekly/monthly activity status and performance reports for the zone  are prepared for the attention of the Executive Director

Qualification and Experience

  • First degree or its equivalent from a reputable university
  • A higher degree or relevant professional business qualification will be an advantage.
  • Ten (10) years cognate experience with at least four (4) in executive management capacity.
  • Good understanding of competing product and service offerings in the market place.
  • Ability to generate creative ideas by combining the benefit of several alternatives
  • Ability to recognize and weighs risks associated with innovative ideas.
  • Ability to define and execute retention strategies for attracting and retaining high value customers.
  • Skill/experience in identifying control techniques to mitigate organizational and business process risks.
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal skills.
