The BBC Media Action is looking for interested/motivated candidates to join the Team as:

 

Position: Finance Assistant

 

Salary range from N140,000.00 gross per month

 

The positions are Abuja based. The contract duration is one year with possibility for renewable subject to availability of funding. The start date August 2013 with a probation period of 3 months.

 

Will assist the Head of Finance in ensuring that all financial aspects of the BBC Media Action in Nigeria are managed accordingly. Assist and support in the daily activities of the Finance Department by supporting both the Finance Manager and Finance Officer in maintaining financial records, processing payments, cash disbursement and preparation of creditor invoices.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Make cash payments to staff member
  • Make bank withdrawals for the office
  • Make creditor cheque payments
  • Assist the Finance manager during audits
  • File hard copy documents daily
  • Make monthly tax returns to the tax office and ensure collection of tax receipts.
  • Facilitate creditor payments of other departments in accordance with internal control and procedures.
  • Make payments to staff for approved advances as directed and approved;
  • Assist the Finance officer in preparing the periodic cost reports.
  • Disburse cash as may be authorized.
  • Collect bank statements from banks when authorized
  • Perform any other accounting and financial tasks as may be assigned.
  • Prepare creditor invoices for payment attaching appropriate supporting documentations and ensure that they are complete, correct with all necessary signatures and authorization.
  • Support the Finance Officer in reconciliation of advances.
  • Resolve and if necessary report appropriately any anomalies in advances or expenses.

  • Perform any other accounting and financial tasks as may be assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

 

Essential Skills:

  • Aptitude for mathematics and ability to analyze, compare and interpret facts and figures.
  • Proficiency in M/S Office programmes especially Microsoft excel
  • Demonstrate good judgment and sound financial common sense.
  • Ability to communicate accounting and financial information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to maintain composure under intense pressure while working to meet deadlines.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English:

Qualification:

  • Educated at first degree in any finance related field Social or Management Sciences or in any related field.

 

 

Position: Guest House Supervisor

 

Salary range from N120,000.00 gross per month

 

The Guest House Manager will be responsible for the day to day management and maintenance of the BBCMA Guest House to ensure a clean, healthy, safe and habitable environment for guests and visitors.

 

Will coordinate logistic support for all trainings and meetings in the Guest House as well as manage a team of Guest House Stewards, Gardner and the Washman.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Undertake the full management of the Guest House
  • Training of subordinates on guesthouse running and maintenance
  • Ensure that all items in the guest rooms are intact at check out.
  • Liaise closely with the official security outfit at the gate to ensure security, monitoring of guests, visitors in and around the guest house.
  • Support and coordinate all logistics for Trainings/Meetings in the Guest House
  • Monitor the consumption and depletion level of the diesel in the generator and report to Line Manager.
  • Monitor the movement of visitors in and around the guest house.
  • Ensure that the first aid box is constantly stocked and check out for expired drugs.
  • Ensure that health and safety standards are maintained in the guest house.
  • Report promptly any noticed problems to Line Manager for quick intervention
  • Carry out regular and daily inspection of rooms, premises and all gadgets and equipment in the guest house and ensure that they are in good working condition.
  • Before retiring to bed, must ensure that all appliances, equipment are put off and the whole premises is secured.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned

 

Essential:

  • Work experience in a hospitality industry or in a similar environment.
  • Must also be willing to be resident in the house for effective and efficient management and administration of the guest house.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Energetic and personable
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Possess friendly and service oriented personality.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, take initiative and make sound judgment

Qualification

  • Ordinary National Diploma or any equivalent certificate in Hotel Management, Social Sciences or the Humanities.
