Vacancies: Grant Manger, Project Officer, Finance Officer
Sightsaver is a highly respected international development organization working to eliminate avoidable blindness and promote equality of opportunity for disabled people. Sightsaver is expanding its NTD work in Nigeria and is undertaking surveys to determine the prevalence of two parasitical infections, schistosomiasis and Soil Transmitted Helminthiasis (STH), in 14 states in Nigeria. Sightsaver is looking for three highly motivated and skilled individuals to support with this ambitious project.
Position: Grant Manger
The purpose of the job is to support the management the Grant for the mapping of schistosomiasis and Soil Transmitted Helminthiasis in Nigeria.
Overall Purpose and Responsibilities:
- To negotiate and review all reimbursement requests for appropriateness and ensure that partners are in compliance with established administrative and financial policies and procedures.
- Monitor all phases of grant agreements and close-out, including assessment of technical progress and performance.
- Provide financial oversight of the project grant.
- Ensure accountability of the fund process and to manage the grant systems in place according to MoUs and grant contract.
- Report funding income and expenditure in budget template, including complete month end review of performance related income, monitoring usage of fund codes and supporting the year end reconciliation process.
Person Specification:
- Degree in relevant Field (Social Sciences, Development Studies, and Public Health Education) Preferably at M.Sc Level and at least 5 years experience in Grant Management ideally in an NGO environment
- Experience of financial management, progranmme and project management, and Administration.
- Experience of donor contract management preferable, especially EC, USAID and DfID funding.
- Experience of providing financial training to non-finance staff
Position: Project Officer
The primary purpose for the post is to support the implementation of mapping of schistosomiasis and Soil Transmitted Helminthiasis project and report to the programming manager.
Overall purpose and Responsibilities:
- Work with partners to develop project implementation plans.
- Support partners to ensure appropriate documentation of all project activities and to ensure timely and high quality reporting (both narrative and financial).
- Be an active member of the country team, assisting the Country Director and Programme Manager to monitor and analyze progress against project plan and to compile regular reports (monthly and quarterly)
- Take the lead in the implementation of the mapping.
- Provide regular and timely reports regarding field activities and ensure timely follow-up on action points from each field visit;
- Develop high quality case studies as part of reporting
The Person:
- Degree in Relevant Field (Development Science, Social Sciences, Human Right, Public Health)
- Knowledge and previous experience in Schistosomiasis and Soil Transmitted Helminthiasis Control Programmes will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years working experience.
- Experience in all aspects of project and partnership management
- Experience in working in an International NGO environment.
Position: Finance Officer
The Finance Officer will be a member of the Project Team and report to the Country Director. The Finance Officer will have responsibility for managing the finance function of the project.
Overall purpose and Responsibilities:
- Ensure conformity to the organization Financial Framework with specific respect to financial management and controls.
- Support the Project Officer and Grant Manager with financial planning, budgeting and forecasting.
- Take Lead in financial, monitoring and audits.
- Under financial monitoring trips to projects and produce reports.
- Ensure that grant income and expenditure is correctly reflected in the Accounting Systems.
- Provide financial management support to Project Officer and Grant Manager.
- Monitor adherence to financial procedures and guidelines by partners.
Person Specification:
- At least a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting. Relevant professional Accounting qualification will be an added advantage.
- Must have at least 5 years relevant finance experience in Grant Management capacity ideally in an INGO environment.
- Exposure in programme and project financial management, and administration
- Experience of audit and government organization would be an advantage
- Data analysis skills and excellent communication skills (oral and written).
- Capacity building or facilitation skills
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
