Vacancies: Management Accountant, Accounts Officer – General Ledger
Malaria Consortium (www.malariaconsortium.org) is one of the world’s leading non-profit organisation which is dedicated to the comprehensive control of malaria and other communicable disease in Africa and Southeast Asia. Malaria Consortium works with communities, Government and non-Governmental agencies, academic Institutions, local and international organisations; to ensure good evidence supports delivery of effective services, providing technical support for monitoring and evaluation of programmes and activities for evidence-based decision-making and strategic planning.
The organisation has been operational in Nigeria since 2008 and recently opened a country office in Nigeria to fully establish itself with long term commitment. Malaria Consortium now seeks to recruit professionals in its newly established Country Office and new projects / programmes in Nigeria:
Position: Management Accountant: Country Office – Abuja
- The Management Accountant will work closely with the management, technical and operations team in-country to provide pro-active, efficient, timely and relevant financial information to project managers of Malaria Consortium and required for decision making.
- The job holder will also ensure the compliance of all MC financial procedures, contracts and agreements are in line with relevant regulations and laws. Additional key responsibilities include;
- Providing assistance to project managers to forecast expenditure, track financial commitments, cash needs and take remedial actions where there are no overspends;
- Maintaining an update of coding system for all programmes;
- Coordinating the preparation of all project budgets and organise an annual budget for review by the Country Finance Manager and Country Director;
- Ensuring project managers are supplied with accurate budget codes for all sub-activities and strict adherence to such codes;
- Providing support to the Country Finance Manager to prepare updated cash flow forecasts to the head office with support from the Roving Financial Accountant;
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree or International qualification in Accounting or other related discipline is required.
- S/he must have a minimum of 5-years working experience in a finance team with two years’ experience as a management accountant.
- Previous experience and knowledge of NGO donors and their financial reporting requirements as well as an excellent interpersonal and communication skill is essential for this position.
- Additional skills required for this position include; good management and organization skills, report writing skills and an excellent working knowledge of accounting soft-wares.
Position: Accounts Officer – General Ledger
The Accounts Officer will provide accounting services for the MC Country office ledgers in accordance with the financial procedures. The officer will be responsible for posting all advances to partners’ ledger and ensure settlement of advances in liaison with the Accounts Officers Bank and Cash; post all supplier invoices to purchase ledger; follow-up on stock balance of financial documents, et cetera.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting with a minimum of three years’ experience in a finance team. Previous knowledge of NGO donors and their financial reporting requirements is essential for this position. Excellent working knowledge of computers as well as accounting soft wares is required.
