Vacancies: Sector Specialist, Finance Manager
Our client is a Financial Sector Development Organization that promotes financial inclusion in Nigeria. The Organization was established in 2007, with a vision to be the leader in facilitating the emergence of an all-inclusive and growth-promoting financial system.
As part of efforts to expand its operations, the Organization has identified a need to recruit suitably qualified and competent candidates to fill the following positions, which will be based in Lagos:
Position: Sector Specialist (ES025)
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will have overall responsibility for developing the Organization’s strategy in the relevant sector in order to stimulate product innovation and advocate for appropriate regulatory policies within the sector. Specifically, the candidate will:
- Document the current status of the specific sector in Nigeria in terms of key stakeholders, industry associations, policies, regulatory framework, impediments to growth, barriers to access for the low income population.
- Provide analyses of the main developments within the sector in other African countries and beyond.
- Identify and lead the development of projects for the Organization’s Innovation Fund.
- Produce succinct focus/strategy notes based on research findings that promotes the growth of the sector, informs policy reforms, and stimulates product innovation.
- Develop and maintain contacts with key stakeholders including financial providers, industry associations and regulators.
- Develop and execute an effective marketing that increases the awareness of pertinent issues in the sector, highlights the initiatives undertaken by the Organization, and furthers the financial inclusion agenda in Nigeria.
The priority sectors for the Organization are Non-interest (Islamic) banking, Payments (mobile payments, agent banking, conditional cash transfers), and Retail Savings.
Qualifications, Experience and Attributes:
- A good first degree in Economics (General, Agriculture or Development), Finance, Banking, Law, Business Administration or any related discipline from a reputable institution.
- A master’s degree in International Development, Business Administration or a related discipline will be an advantage.
- Superior sector knowledge, with a minimum of six (6) years’ experience in the relevant sector.
- Strong relationship management experience with the ability to engage various stakeholders.
- Excellent computer skills and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Good project management skills.
- Proven analytical and problem solving skills.
- Exceptional presentation communication skills.
- Strong ethics and integrity.
Position: Finance Manager (ES026)
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will have overall responsibility for managing the Organization’s financial and accounting related functions. Specifically, the candidate will:
- Formulate and implement financial procedures in compliance with accepted accounting practices and applicable statutes and with the Organization’s policies.
- Implement effective internal financial controls to mitigate financial and operational risks.
- Prepare PAYE on a monthly basis for all staff.
- Supervise the Finance Officer to ensure that all entries in the accounting system are accurate.
- Assist the CEO in preparing the annual budget.
- Ensure that all procurement and disposal of the Organization’s assets conforms with its policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with external auditors to ensure a smooth audit process.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly budget variance reports for the CEO.
Qualifications, Experience and Attributes:
- A good first degree in Accounting or any related discipline from a reputable institution.
- ACA with at least five (5) years’ post qualification experience, and a minimum of three (3) years in a management role.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Proficient in the use of Tally 9.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing financial systems and processes.
- Strong knowledge of donor funded operations will be an added advantage.
- Experience in preparing budgets and financial reports.
- Conversant with Federal and Lagos State financial regulations, and applicable tax regime.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong ethics and integrity.
