Vacancies: General Counsel, Head Human Resources
A newly established government-owned public liability company is seeking qualified and exceptional candidates to fill the following executive management positions:
Position: General Counsel
Position Summary
- The General Counsel serves as in-house counsel on contracts including development of contract language, negotiations with counterparties and resolution of disputes; manages litigation and arbitration proceedings; leads regulatory and legislative initiatives; and advises the Chief Executive Officer and the Board on all legal and regulatory issues that arise. The General Counsel reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
Qualifications
Required
- Law Degree, 10 years post Call and an admission to the Nigerian Bar
- Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to organize and apply legal concepts and principles
- Demonstrated experience in negotiations of long tenured contracts
- Ability to interpret analyze and prepare contract documents
Desired:
- Five (5) years of related progressive legal /regulatory experience, preferably in corporate law
- Experience in regulatory and legislative matters in the power and gas industries
- Knowledge of Nigeria or similar power and natural gas markets and the roles and responsibilities of the various industry players Experience working with power infrastructure or related contracts
Position: Head Human Resources
Position Summary
- The Human Resources Manager guides and manages the overall Human Resource activities for the company. The Human Resources manager originates and leads Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce and assists and advises company managers about Human Resources issues. The Head, Human Resources reports directly to the Head, F&A.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business Administrations or Organization Development.
- Ten (10) years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources positions or closely related positions.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Broad knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development employee relations, safety, and training and development.
- Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other Human Resources programs
Desired:
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop Human Resources staff members.
- Demonstrated ability to serve as a successful participant on the executive management team that provides company leadership and direction.
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with the company Board of Directors.
- Excellent computer skills in database management and record keeping
- Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development employee relations, safety, training, and preventive labour relations, preferred.
