Vacancies: Head of Base Dutse (Operational Management), Local Government Area Technical Advisor

 

Action Against Hunger (ACF) USA is part of the ACF-International Network which works to save lives by combating hunger and diseases that threaten vulnerable communities, through nutrition, food security, water and sanitation, health and advocacy.

 

Action Against Hunger is seeking qualified candidates for posts based in Jigawa and one in Abuja, details of which are below:

 

 

Position: Head of Base, Dutse (Operational Management)

 

Purpose: the Head of Base is responsible for coordination and implementation, and adherence to, logistic, human resource, finance/administration and security procedures, and provision of operational support to the Nutrition programs in Jigawa State, Northern Nigeria.

 

Essential skill requirements related:

  • Professional, motivated, open, creative, mature, responsible flexible and, culturally sensitive. Excellent teamwork and communication competencies.
  • Experience implementing programming on behalf of donor (i.e. USAID, ECHO, DFID, CIDA funded activities
  • Willing and able to be based and travel regularly within remote areas, where services are limited. Computer literacy and high functionality with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word).
  • Fluency in Hausa and English. Commitment to ACF values and charter Principles of independence, Neutrality, Non-Discrimination, Free and Direct Access to Victims, Professionalism, and Transparency.

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • In addition to the requirements: minimum Bachelor’s level degree in Administration, Management or similar field.
  • Candidate should have substantial experience in logistics, administration & staff management, project support and follow up, security management.
  • Must be a leader and manager with rigorous organizational capacity (definition of priorities, delegation, training), excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, Accountancy packages, and system management), demonstrated initiative and flexibility ability to adapt, multitask and deal with stressful situations, high level of cultural sensitivity.

 

ACF is seeking to fill the role of Local Government Technical Advisor (Birnin Kudu), as part of the existing working to improve Nutrition in Northern Nigeria (WINNN) program, funded by DfID, a joint project being implemented by Save the Children, ACF and UNICEF, since 2011.

 

Position: Local Government Area Technical Advisor (Birnin Kudu LGA), WINNN Program

 

(NUTRITION PROGRAMS)

 

Purpose: To strengthen the capacity of the Local Government Area (LGA) nutrition focal person or team (as designated by the L.GA) in management, delivery, and advocacy of cost-effective malnutrition prevention and treatment intervention (interventions include – infant & Young Child Feeding (IYCF), Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM), and Maternal & Child Health Weeks).

Qualifications:

  • In addition requirements: Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Nutrition, Public Health or related field.
  • Strong program management background with 3+years of professional experience in managing health and/or nutrition program and one year of experience with CMAM approach.
  • Significant experience in planning, managing and delivering a program, including costing, managing and monitoring budgets.
  • Effective resource planning including commodities and technical expertise.
  • Sound strategic thinking and planning skills, including ability to think creatively and innovate and to set workplants and evaluate progress.
  • Ability to build support across teams and partner organizations, and build the capacity of other through supportive supervision and mentoring.

 

Note:

 

Preferred but not Essential:

Previous experience living and working in an integrated setting in Northern Nigerian communities Understanding of local languages of Fulani and Kanuri.
