Vacancies: PMTCT Advisor, Strategic Information Officer

 

Jhpiego, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University and a global leader in and families, seeks suitable candidates for the following positions:

 

Title: PMTCT Advisor

Reports to: Project Director

Job Location: Zamfara state, Nigeria

Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

  • Work with the Project Director to ensure measurable outcomes of a U.S. government-funded HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment program are in alignment with PEPFAR and Government of Nigeria goals;
  • Provide technical and programmatic leadership to coordinate PMTCT/HCT services in Zamfara state;
  • Serve as a technical resource for JHPIEGO in the areas of quality HIV/AIDS services, especially in PMTCT interventions;
  • Develop and conduct technical assistance to oversee QA interventions, monitor and maintain technical quality of activities in all aspects of the project’s deliverables, especially as it relates to HIV testing, CD4 testing, EID and ARV issues in agreement with national and international standards;
  • Work with M&E staff to implement existing M&E plans that will feed data into the national comprehensive HMIS grid;
  • Participate in needs assessments with: Project staffs, NASCP.SACA & SMOH to determine which secondary and primary health facilities in the state will receive project scale-up and capacity building for PMTCT services;
  • Contribute to Zamfara SMOH capacity building and PMTCT/HCT implementation plans by working closely with the state SACA to achieve this objective;
  • Train and supervise state and facility based staff to implement PMTCT/HCT services;
  • Work and liaise closely with civil society organizations of persons living with HIV to recruit women peer support volunteers at PMTCT sites to support the project’s escort/buddy and referral network systems;
  • Work closely with the facility staff and local NGO’s, to identify suitable sites to carry out HIV outreach services within the targeted areas;
  • Documents programmatic results, achievements, success stories and challenges in a timely manner, as required by the project; and
  • Perform other duties relating to the project as assigned by the Project Director

 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • A medical Doctor or a Nurse-midwife or any other closely related health care professional, specialization in health (e.g. MPH.MPA or other relevant degree) will be an added advantage;
  • Minimum of 3-5 years working experience in the areas of PMTCT/HCT services, previous experience of working on a CDC or USAID funded project will be an added advantage;
  • Familiarity with the FMOH, SMOH, SACA and LACA structures and functions especially as it relates to HIV/AIDS is highly desirable;
  • Significant experience  in  HIV/AIDS  Programmes with  a  focus  on
  • PMTCT/HCT in Nigeria;
  • Experience in managing and supervising project’s technical/facility staff;
  • Extensive experience in other reproductive health care related services and ability to multi-task will be highly desirable;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, presentation skills and fluency in English language, ability to speak Hausa language will be an added advantage.

 

 

Title: Strategic Information Officer

Reports to: Project Director

Location: Zamfara state, Nigeria

Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

  • Ensure that the measurable outcomes of a U.S. government-funded HIV/A1DS prevention, care and treatment program .in alignment with PEPFAR and Government of Nigeria goals, are well documented and reported;
  • Take the lead and work with the team for the development, implementation, and assessments of quality assurance components of project’s M&E activities;
  • Monitor PMTCT and HCT service delivery activities in the state;
  • Train facilities service providers, program’s technical officers, and others to provide and report quality M&E data in the project state;
  • In collaboration with the state team, ensure that necessary M&E planning, budgeting, and management activities occur to facilitate smooth and efficient program functioning in Zamfara state;
  • Capture and document program results, successes, challenges and lessons learned as required by the project;
  • Perform other duties relating to the project assigned by the supervisor;
  • Candidates must have at least 2-3 years of above related experiences , A qualification of these related courses: (Health related degrees, degree/diploma in computer, data processing, social sciences etc.)
