Position: Polytechnic Librarian
Functions/Duties
The Polytechnic Librarian who is a Principal Officer is responsible to the Rector for the day-to-day running of the Polytechnic Library and for forming overall library policies.
Qualification and Experience
- Candidate for the post of the Polytechnic Librarian is expected to hold a good honours degree from a recognised institution of higher learning plus, at least, 17 years cognate experience or a holder of Masters Degree in Library Science from a recognised institution of learning plus, at least, 15 years cognate experience. In either case, the candidate must, in addition, possess professional library registration.
- Candidate applying for the post of Polytechnic Librarian must not be more than 55 years old at the time of assumption of duty and must presently hold a position not less than Chief Librarian. The Candidate should also have evidence of publications and research work and must be computer literate.
Salary and Other Benefits
The position of the Polytechnic Librarian is a tenure appointment. The salary is consolidated and the appointee shall enjoy other benefits of office as may be approved from time to time by the Federal Government.
