Vacancies: Power Contract Management, IPP Planning and Power Procurement Manager
Our client is an initiative of the Federal Government born out of its private-public sector partnership. In fulfillment of its mandate, our client seeks dynamic service oriented professionals to support the achievement of its strategic objectives.
Position: Power Contract Management (KRPCM)
Reports to: Head Power Contracts and Power Procurement
Role Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the set up of systems for measuring contract performance
- Serve us point of contact with NERC, IPPs, Distributor, the MO and the SO on commercial, planning and market design issues
- Responsive for establishing efficient internal processes for contract management and ensuring that contract control procedures are of internationally accepted standards
- Forecast electricity loads and prices for trading and electricity supply using statistical techniques
- Responsible for implementing and administering portfolio risk metrics, including but not limited to value-at-risk of trading risks and position limits
- Analyze energy positions and projects from market risk perspective
- Maintain relationships and trade with the Company’s trading counterparties
- Provide technical and advanced quantitative methods in support of portfolio optimization, trading and risk & control functions
- Stress testing and simulations of portfolio profits and losses
- Support technical and regulatory operations of the Firm, including compliance market rules compliance
The Person:
- A First degree in Engineering and a post graduate degree in Law, Business related degree or Engineering will be an added advantage.
- At least 12 years relevant experience with 5 years experience within the Power industry.
- Excellent appreciation of trends and advances in corporate finance
- Experience working with power contracts, power generation, transmission or distribution fields
- Superior technical knowledge of financial markets, derivatives valuation and/financial services
- Understanding of regulatory environment and authorities (SEC and NSE)
- Knowledge and experience in investment structuring and valuation, portfolio management and exit strategy
- High level of integrity and demonstrated ability to manage activities that have financial implication.
Position: IPP Planning and Power Procurement Manager (KRIPP)
Reports to: Head Power Contracts and Power Procurement
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop procurement documents and procedures for new generation and associated transmission additions
- Collect data and forecast on the demand for end use of electricity and to require the licensees to collect such data and forecast
- Conduct periodic assessments of power supply portfolio risks; communicate risk issues to the executive management, Finance, NERC and Distributors
- Negotiate with selected bidders to finalize and sign contracts
- Monitor projects and ensure compliance with construction-stage requirements and milestones
- Conduct periodic assessments of power supply portfolio risks and communicate risk issues to the various stakeholders.
- Prepare regulatory filings to the NERC on power procurement and planning activities and results.
- Participate in regulatory proceedings on market design, market operations and energy planning issues
The Person:
- Degree in Business, Economics, Law, Engineering or similar degree.
- Post graduate degree or an M.Sc with relevant professional certifications
- At least 12 years experience
- Independent power producer or renewable energies industry experience preferred
- Skilled in various business and ERP systems to address changing business models
- Demonstrated knowledge of commercial structuring of power contracts
- Power system planning and procurement
- Experience in supplier management and contract management.
- Budget forecasting and financial analysis
- Change management experience
