Position: Program Assistant (Teacher Education)
Job Location: Bauchi (1 position) and Sokoto ( 1 position)
Background:
NEI is a USAID-funded project whose aim is to strengthen state and local government capacity to deliver basic education services by addressing key issues in the management, sustainability, and oversight of basic education. The project will also increase the access of orphans and vulnerable children to basic education and services such as health information and counseling in Nigeria’s two northern states of Bauchi and Sokoto.
Position Summary:
The Program Assistant Teacher Education (Bauchi and Sokoto) will be responsible for providing logistics, administrative and technical assistant for all teacher education activities, including organizing meetings and workshops with state level counterparts, report writing, budgeting, planning and all technical activities.
Reporting & Supervision:
The Program Assistants, Teacher Education, will report to the Senior Teacher Training Advisor in the Bauchi and Sokoto Offices.
Requirements and Skill Set:
- Applicants should have minimum of first degree in education or any other social sciences
- Minimum 3 years experience working in educational development
- Knowledge of modern pedagogical practices
- Understanding of the educational policy environment in Nigeria
- Fluency in speaking English and Hausa language
- Excellent report writing and budgeting skills
- Proficiency in the use of micro-soft word, excel and power point
- Excellent interpersonal and administrative skills
- Flexibility and adaptability
- Ability to work under pressure and meet set targets.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in organizing and conducting state-level technical working groups, workshop and school visits.
- Participate in organizing and mobilizing stakeholders at the state and local government levels for all technical activities such as trainings.
- Assist in writing all technical reports: weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual reports and activity bulletins and success stories.
- Participate in annual budgeting and work planning sessions
- Liaise with the M& E unit to ensure that all teacher education related activities are properly documents in the NEI data base.
- Collaborate with other NEI components to ensure that activities that cross-cut are captured in all Teacher Education technical activities.
- Perform other tasks assigned.
