Registrar at Federal College of Education, Oyo

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for appointment to the post of Registrar of the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo.

 

Position: Registrar

  • The Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo was established in October, 1977 with the sole mandate of training teachers for special needs education at the primary and secondary levels of education. The five-fold mission statements of the College are listed
  • below:
  • Producing highly professional competent and committed teachers tor special needs education at the primary and secondary levels of education.
  • Undertaking a thorough investigation through research into the peculiar needs of persons with special educational needs and the gifted and talented in the Nigerian society
  • Producing students with high level technological know-how that could enable them operate, maintain and repair specialized equipment and materials in special education. .
  • Producing a body of young professionals ingrained with altitudes, values and interests compatible with the socio-economic environment of persons with special needs; and .
  • Encouraging the training of serving teachers through part-time studies so as to upgrade their skills.

 

The  Position

The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the College and shall be responsible to the Provost for the day-to-day administrative work of the College. He/She acts in advisory capacity on rules, regulations and procedures of the College and keeps custody of the College records and documents.

 

Qualifications and Experience

a          Candidates for the post must possess a good honours degree from a recognized institution of higher learning plus at least seventeen (17) years cognate experience, or a holder of a Masters Degree from a recognized institution of higher learning, plus, at least twelve (12) years of cognate experience.

b.         Candidates should have spent a minimum of three (3) years on the position of Deputy Registrar

 

c.         Possession of practical knowledge of Information Communication Technology (ICT) and membership of recognized Professional Bodies like NIM, IPMN etc would be an added advantage.

 

Specifically, the candidate is expected to:

a)         be a person with good leadership qualities who can inspire and motivate a crop of young administrative officers to be able to get the best out of them;

b)         be a person of high integrity and moral standard who is upright, appreciates and acts on merit:

c)         be a person who enjoys excellent physical and mental health and

d)         be focused and innovative.

 

Salary and Conditions of Service

These are as approved for the Federal Colleges of Education and as may be modified from time to time by competent authorities. The Registrar shall hold office for five (5) years in the first instance, subject to re-appointment for one further term of five (5) years, based on satisfactory performance of duties.

 

Remuneration

The remuneration for the post of Registrar is CONTEDISS 15 with other applicable allowances as may be approved by Government.
