Malaria Consortium (www.malariaconsortium.org) is one of the world’s leading non-profit organisations which is dedicated to the comprehensive control of malaria and other communicable disease in Africa and Southeast Asia. Malaria Consortium works with communities, Government and non-Governmental agencies, academic Institutions, local and international organisations; to ensure good evidence supports delivery of effective services, providing technical support for monitoring and evaluation of programmes and activities for evidence-based decision-making and strategic planning.

 

The organisation has been operational in Nigeria since 2008 and recently opened a country office in Nigeria to fully establish itself with long term commitment. Malaria Consortium now seeks to recruit professionals in its newly established Country Office and new projects / programmes in Nigeria:

 

Position: Technical Officer (Monitoring & Evaluation) – Anambra

 

The Technical Officer (M&E) will coordinate, organise and supervise data collection (both routine and survey); to be used to monitor and evaluate project activities, outcomes and impact. The Job holder will provide support for the implementation of a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation plan and ensure quality control of project activities.

 

Other key responsibilities include;

  • Developing implementation plans and budgets for survey activities as well as prepare locations through sensitization activities within districts and nationally;
  • Participating in the design of market surveys, development and field testing of survey tools and sampling as required;
  • Providing support for the collection of routine health information from importers, distributors and health providers;
  • Coordinating the design of a routine monitoring and evaluation system to measure progress against project indicators;
  • Participating in the design of a routine monitoring and evaluation system to measure progress made against project indicators and management of the related database;
  • Liaising with the respective District and National stakeholders to ensure involvement of the district and continuous flow of information;
  • Coordinating the collection of data on a quarterly basis for the monitoring of progress towards key performance indicators and to determine if programmatic targets are being achieved.

 

Qualifications:

  • A Post-Graduate degree in either of Monitoring and Evaluation, Public health or other related discipline is required for this position. A minimum of 3-years’ experience working in Public Health with either, the Government, international Organization or a Research Institute and in a developing country is essential. S/he must have prior experience and knowledge of communicable disease control (malaria), significant training experience in the designs of M&E, its tools and methodologies as well as an excellent knowledge and use of computer soft-wares, particularly; Excel, EpiData or STATA is desirable.
  • Previous experience within a donor funding environment will be an added advantage.

 

Position: Technical Officer (Marketing)-Anambra

The Technical Officer (Marketing) will oversee activities geared towards increasing the uptake of the enhanced RDTs in the private sector. The job holder will be responsible for developing and implementing a diagnostics marketing strategy for malaria diagnostics brands, targeted at both the providers and consumers. Additional key responsibilities include;

  • Coordinating regular meeting with key stakeholders on the progress of the project towards gathering learning on stock, RDT results interpretation, adherence and over-treatment of ACTS;
  • Ensuring constant availability of quality assured diagnostics stock in the private sector pipeline by tracking orders, shipping, stocking and providing information on commodities as they move from manufacturers to the importers, wholesalers, distributors, retailers and end-users;
  • Working with importers, distributors and healthcare providers to improve access to good quality malaria diagnostics;
  • Working with the Regional BCC specialist to develop IEC materials and a BCC campaign;
  • Monitoring market price of the enhanced product;
  • Monitoring and supervision of sub contracted marketing activities;

 

 

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in International health or other related discipline with a Post-Graduate qualification in one of; Procurement, Marketing or Business management is required for this post. The job holder must be familiar with the Nigerian Health Sector and the operations of the Ministry of Health. S/he must have a minimum of 3-years1 experience, prior experience managing large scale programmes and strong interpersonal and negotiating skills. Excellent report writing and presentation skills are required for this position.
