RIMA is a microfinance apex agency established by the Rivers State Government of Nigeria to support poverty alleviation and facilitate the provision of microfinance in the State. It seeks to engage the position below to implement its strategic goals and objectives in line with the State Government’s mandate.
Only interested and qualified persons with the skills and passion for using microfinance as a poverty alleviation strategy will be expected to apply. They must meet the requirements stated below:
Managing Director/CEO
Job Summary:
The Managing Director is expected to provide leadership to the organizations as well as interface with the board of RIMA and relevant government officials. Specific functions for this position will include
- Work with the RIMA board to develop and implement an over-arching microfinance strategy in line with the Governor’s vision for poverty alleviation in the state.
- Market and attract microfinance funding to achieve goals and objectives.
- Build a viable and effective agency through sustainable structure, systems and processes
- Develop a results oriented, highly effective organisation-wide culture that exhibits a clear alignment of purpose and achievement at all levels.
- Ensure full accountability for funds provided.
- Develop, maintain and continuously improve relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders including the State Government officials, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), owners and managers of Microfinance Institutions, local and international donor agencies, financial services industry players, capacity building organizations, and relevant members of the public in general.
Desired Qualities:
Experience
- A minimum of fifteen years post qualification experience, five years of which should be in a senior management position.
- Cognate experience working in a micro-finance environment with demonstrated experience in fund raising and effective deployment, alleviating poverty and developing sustainable capacity with clear emphasis on job and wealth creation.
Qualification
- A Masters degree in a business or finance related discipline with relevant professional qualifications.
Knowledge
- Some appreciation of the Rivers State environment, its culture and its people would be an added advantage.
Age
- Applicants should preferably be between the age of 35yrs to 50yrs.
