Save the Children is a leading international organization helping children in need around the world. First established in the UK in 1919, separate national organizations have been set up in more than twenty-eight countries, sharing the aim of improving the lives of children through educate, health care and economic opportunities, as well as emergency aid in cases of natural disasters, war and conflict. Today, twenty-eight national Save the Children organizations participate in the international Save the Children Alliance – a global network of nonprofit organizations working in over 120 countries around the world. In addition to promoting greater public awareness of the needs and rights of children worldwide. Alliance members coordinate emergency relief efforts, helping to protect children from the effects of disasters, both natural and manmade. We also work with the existing Food and Nutrition Partnership Forum to influence government and donors to bring the issue of malnutrition and poverty into the national agenda.

 

Position: Education Adviser-Abuja

 

The ideal candidate will lead on the development of an education strategy for the country programme, working with Save the Children member countries to Identify priories and opportunities; and also maintain an oversight on project implementation of existing and new programmes, to ensure that overall project outcomes are achieved.

 

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Education or equivalent with minimum of 5 years work experience. Experience in designing education proposals.
  • Excellent understanding of education issues in Nigeria at both field and policy levels.
  • Experience in working with government counterparts and other partners at various levels – federal to LGA and community.
  • This includes technical support, capacity-building and coordination.

 

 

Position: Education Research Coordinator (6 months Consultancy) – Lagos

 

The Education Research Coordinator would take a lead in managing a piece of research into the education situation for marginalized children in Lagos, liaising closely with the research design consultant, to ensure quality and credible evidence is gathered that can influence further programme design as well as policy development in Lagos State.

 

Qualifications:

  • Academe/professional qualification at post graduate level or equivalent in education.
  • Substantial operational experience and a track record of success on education in Lagos state.
  • Proven experience in working with the most marginalized communities in Lagos State.
  • Experience in providing technical support to partners and government at all levels. Experience of managing small grants/budget.
