Information on the Polytechnic

Kaduna Polytechnic was established as Technical Institute in 1956, and became an autonomous Institution on the promulgation of Degree No. 20 of 1968, which was revised in 1979 by Degree No. 79. In 1991, the institution was taken over by the Federal Government with Decree No. 40 of the same year. The Polytechnic has about 3,000 staff and over 15,000 students undertaking 138 programmes in 38 departments.

Position:  Chief Security Officer

  • The Chief Security Officer is responsible to the Rector through the Registrar for the general administration operational duties and supervision of Security Division.
  • He/She is to ensure the protection of lives and properties, crime prevention and enforcement of Polytechnic Regulations.
  • The Chief Security Officer is to collate and evaluate intelligence data as well as control and supervise the Polytechnic Fire Service.
  • He /She is to liaise with external Security Systems on related matters, subject to clearance with the Rector or the Registrar.
  • In addition, the Chief Security Officer is to advise the Rector on prevention and diffusion of security problems on the campuses.
  • He/She is also to coordinate the work and activities of different sections of the Security Divisions as well as the constituent units of the Colleges.

 

Qualification

  • Candidates must possess experience with any Armed Forces or Police and must not be below the rank of a retired Major in the Nigerian Armed Forces or Retired Deputy Commissioner of Police or Assistant Commissioner of Police in the Nigerian Police with at least 15 years experience.

 

Condition of Appointment

  • The position attracts fringe and other benefits as approved from time to time by the Polytechnic. Successful candidate will join the service on contract basis only.

 

SALARY -CONTEDISS 13
