Vacancies: Environment and Social Safeguards Specialist, Communication Specialist
The NEWMAP Project is essentially a sustainable land improvement and conservation operation and would target land resources: soils, vegetation, water, biodiversity and livelihood in initial seven (7) participating states in the rainforest agro-ecological Zone of Nigeria. NEWMAP Nigeria therefore, announces the following special services vacancies at the Federal Project Monitoring Unit (FPMU).
Position: Environment and Social Safeguards Specialist (ESSP)
Requirement
- Applicants must possess a minimum qualification of B.Sc or HND in Soil and Water Science. An MSc. Degree in Environmental Development Planning will be an added advantage. Other requirements for this position are a 20 years post qualification experience on Erosion, Flood, Watershed and Ecological Projects
- Familiarity with financial management guidelines and IDA Procurement and procedures.,
- Prove of service delivery on Erosion, Flood, Ecological projects ADB and the World Bank is mandatory.
Position: Communication Specialist (CS)
Requirement
- Applicants for this position must possess a minimum qualification of B.A. in English; MA degree in Mass Communication is an added advantage.(ii) Candidate must be an accredited member of NUJ and must have had over 20 years of experience in Government/public relations as information, communication and mobilization officer,. Track record of demonstrable competence on all known communication equipment (its usage and application) and on like World Bank, FAO multilateral activities, is very mandatory,
- Ability to communicate fluidly with varying degree of audience and desktop publishing is an essential factor, (v) High degree of competence in report writing, PowerPoint presentations, all words and excel applications and social media, and
- Track knowledge of publishing, advertisement, and the machinery of IEC strategies.
Special Information
NEWMAP FPMU requires a team from a mix of MDA secondments and the open market, depending on candidates meting up with the requisite criteria. Therefore, applications from Officers currently in service as Federal government employees from relevant line Ministries are highly encouraged. But it should be noted that such an applicant, if successful, must be ready to come on board on secondment. It should also be noted that the project will only remunerate such applicants on allowances and not salaries.
