Vacancies: Managing Director, Director Agriculture and Technical Services

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacancies in the Niger State Agricultural and Mechanization Development Authority (NAMDA), Minna.

 

Position:     Managing Director

Grade Level: Salary and emoluments as applicable Grade A parastatals

 

Qualification and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Agriculture or related disciplines, a sound knowledge of rural development and experience in dealing with international Development Institutions/Donors Agencies, high level government officials and committees with at least ten (10) years of experience.

 

Duties:

  • Secretary to the Board of Niger State Agricultural and Mechanization Development Authority
  • Ensure the implementation of all policy decisions
  • Chairman of the Project Management Unit(PMU), Directors the affairs of the PMU
  • Ensure that resources (Human and Physical) are made available to project sub-programmes at the appropriate time
  • Coordinating and supervision of all the activities of the sub-programmes
  • Members of both the Agricultural and infrastructural Committees of the Authority

 

 

Position:     Director Agriculture and Technical Services

 

Grade Level: 17

 

Qualification and Experience:

  • Applicants should possess a minimum of Masters Degree or its equivalent in Agricultural or related disciplines with a post qualification experience of at least fifteen (15) years, have good working knowledge of implementation of Agricultural Development Programmes, and background in Agricultural Extension Programme Development and implementation with considerable administrative ability to manage the various implementation of Agricultural Research with a farming system perspective will be desirable Possession of a relevant higher degree will be an added advantage.

 

Duties:

  • To guide zonal Managers on planning and supervision of the programmes for extension and agronomy sub-units of the Authority
  • To collaborate closely with relevant Research institute personnel carrying out diagnostic improvements
  • To monitor farmer’s response to advised agronomic improvements and to modify such improvements when necessary.
  • To supervise the establishment and implementation of adaptive research programmes
  • To organize seed multiplication by farmers and out-growers, and ensure the supply of seeds of suitable varieties to the farmers
  • To establish and organize effective performance agricultural orientated extension services in the Niger State Agricultural and Mechanization Development Authority.
  • To liaise with input supply agencies to ensure timely and adequate supply of inputs required to Agricultural Development Programes
  • To advise the various Technical Services Units Heads and Zonal Managers on Technical recommendations on improved agricultural practices, and also on planning and implementation of Development Programmes
  • To promote on-the-job training of technical staff working in the different sub-units under this control.
  • To carry out other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Managing Director.
