Malaria Consortium (www.malariaconsortium.org) is one of the world’s leading non-profit organisations which is dedicated to the comprehensive control of malaria and other communicable disease in Africa and Southeast Asia. Malaria Consortium works with communities, Government and non-Governmental agencies, academic Institutions, local and international organisations; to ensure good evidence supports delivery of effective services, providing technical support for monitoring and evaluation of programmes and activities for evidence-based decision-making and strategic planning.

 

The organisation has been operational in Nigeria since 2008 and recently opened a country office in Nigeria to fully establish itself with long term commitment. Malaria Consortium now seeks to recruit professionals in its newly established Country Office and new projects / programmes in Nigeria:

 

Position: Operations Officer: Country Office – Abuja

 

  • The Operations Officer will provide direct support to the Country Director in the smooth running of the country office and the provision of operational and management support to all Malaria Consortium programmes and projects in-country. The job-holder will be actively responsible for ensuring timely, accurate and complete information is made available in the Nigerian page of Malaria Consortium’s intranet. Additional responsibilities include; overseeing consultants and procurement management process as required and ensuring Malaria Consortium projects receive value for money (VFM) for all procurement at all times, developing and maintaining strong relationships with service providers; including hotels, car-hires, travel agencies, et cetera; assisting in organizing programme activities (workshops, trainings) in the country office; amongst other responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in either of Public Health, Social Sciences or Project Management with a minimum of three years project management experience.
  • Previous experience in budgeting, knowledge of computer and database tools, facilitation and coordination skills is required for this position.
  • S/he must have strong management and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Previous experience within a donor funding environment will be an added advantage.

 

UNITAID Project:

  • Malaria Consortium recently awarded funding by UNITA1D to create a private Sector market for Quality Assured Malaria RDTs through licensed premises. The 3-years project which will be implemented in three States, namely; Anambra, Cross-River and Ogun now seeks to recruit professionals for its implementing offices:

 

Position: Project Manager; Abuja

  • The Project Manager will coordinate all in-country project activities against agreed performance indicators. The job holder will also work closely with the country project team, other key personnel in the country office and the Regional Programme Coordinator to lead activities in-country for smooth project start-up and planning.

 

Additional key responsibilities include;

  • Coordinating along with other key personnel in the country office; the overall programme implementation and ensure ail activities are carried out on time and within budget;
  • Developing and implementing annual work-plans;
  • Providing support for the development of an in- country project monitoring and evaluation framework;
  • Working  closely  with  the  Country  Finance  and  Regional  Programme
  • Coordinator to prepare bi-annual financial reports as well as prepare and track progress of project activity budgets;
  • Participating in National level meetings and workshops to represent Malaria Consortium at programmatic and coordination events;
  • Providing support for the development and production of dissemination documents; to allow wider haring of malaria Consortium’s experiences, lessons and successes;

 

Qualifications:

  • A Post-Graduate degree in either of Public Health, Health Policy, Epidemiology, or other related discipline is required.
  • The job holder must have a minimum of 7-years’ experience with 3-years’ experience working at the National level in a developing country.
  • Previous experience in managing projects or project budgets is required for this position.
  • S/he must be excellent in project planning, management with knowledge of monitoring and evaluation.
  • A proof of strong interpersonal and negotiating skills as well as report writing and presentation skills is essential.
  • Previous experience within a donor funding environment will be an added advantage.
