The Federal Government of Nigeria has upgraded the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, to a degree-awarding institution and the National Universities Commission has, accordingly, recognised the Academy as the 37th Federal University and the 124th University in Nigeria. Academic activities are scheduled to commence in September 2012. The Academy is seeking intelligent and patriotic Nigerians of impeccable character to employ as pioneer staff to translate into reality the Government’s vision of creating a model security training institution, internationally respected for the quality and efficiency of its training and the excellence of its academic standards. Candidates for academic staff positions whose research interests tilt towards police and security studies are especially encouraged to apply.

Position: Professor

Qualifications
- Candidates seeking appointment as Professor must have a Doctorate degree in the relevant field and must have minimum of 15 years’ teaching and research experience
- Candidate must show evidence of contributions to knowledge in the form of several ground-breaking publications in peer-reviewed national and international journals and books published by reputable publishers.
- The candidates must also show evidence of academic leadership in the form of successfully supervised postgraduate theses, and some administrative experience. Candidates who already hold chairs of other Nigerian Universities will have an advantage.
Position: Reader
Area of Specialization:

- International Law and Jurisprudence
- Islamic and Customary Law
Qualifications
- Candidates seeking appointment as Reader must hold a Doctorate degree in the relevant field and must have a minimum of 12 years’ teaching and research experience and evidence of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals and books published by reputable publishers.
- The candidates must also show evidence of potential to rise to the professoriate. Candidates who already hold Readerships in other Nigerian Universities will have an advantage.
Position: Senior Lecturer
Area of Specialization:
- Public and Private Law
- Commercial and Property Law
- International Law and Jurisprudence
- Islamic and Customary Law
Qualifications
- Candidates seeking appointment as Senior Lecturer must hold a Doctorate degree in the relevant field and possess a minimum of 8 years’ teaching and research experience.
- The candidates must also show evidence of having published several articles in national or international peer-reviewed journals.
Position: Lecturer I
Area of Specialization:

- Commercial and Property Law
- International Law and Jurisprudence
- Islamic and Customary Law
Qualification
Candidates seeking appointment as Lecturer I must hold the Doctorate in the relevant field or show evidence of having made substantial progress towards completing their doctoral theses in addition to having a minimum of five years’ teaching and research experience and some scholarly publications.
Lecturer II
Area of Specialization:

- International Law and Jurisprudence
- Islamic and Customary Law
Qualification:
- Candidates seeking appointment as Lecturer lI must possess a very good or excellent first degree and a good Master’s degree in the relevant field in addition to having a minimum of two years’ teaching experience.
- Candidates who possess the Doctorate degree are eligible for appointment to a Lectureship without any previous teaching experience.
Assistant Lecturer
Area of Specialization:
- Public and Private Law
- Commercial and Property Law
- International Law and Jurisprudence
- Islamic and Customary Law
Qualification:
Candidates seeking appointment as Assistant Lecturer must possess a very good or excellent first degree and a good Master’s degree. No previous teaching experience is required.
